Amazing review. Totally agree that a top down view of settlement crafting would be a great addition. For me Fallout 4 may just top Half Life 2 as my favorite game of all time!

Random thoughts...
- They got rid of the pointless green tint. (but added occasional green storms now)
- So we will finally get to see the Commonwealth?
- Conversations/animations make me think of Deus Ex: HR.
- Characters look much much better than in Fallout 3. (forget 5 voice actors, it seemed liked there were only 5 character models)
- Companions can't die.. what?
Overall it looks like they've now removed any semblance to the original Fallout games besides name and setting. That's not necessarily a bad thing since they've added so much. Like another guy said it's not worth $60 to me but I'll get it on sale. Thanks for the review.

My sentiments since Fallout 3 exactly. Fallout 4 seemingly simplified dialogues way too much (even more so than Fallout 3 did), and a lot of the character sheet has been dumbed down. It's an action game, even more so than that Fallout 3 mess was.
And the story is done by the same person who made Fallout 3's pointless story ?! Yuck !
Count me out, then ! I prefer my Fallout as an RPG. That is, Fallout 1 and 2 (NV was better than 3, but still was not good enough).
Once again it's Oblivion with guns, and Fallout only by name. :( I'd rather have a great story with great characters than a great sandbox, any day ! I couldn't care less about building a house, even more so in such an uninteresting world. :(
I miss the presence of great dialogue-based quests, and great characters like Cassidy, Marcus, Goris, Sulik...
At least there is Wasteland 2, and other traditionnal CRPGs like Pillars of Eternity (no wasteland in that last one, sadly :p )

It's worth pointing out that you can play all the holotape games you've found on the app as touch games. So if you connect it you could play in the bathroom. I think you can also listen to the radio stations. So it's not really useful for gameplay... but music and bathroom games are awesome.

Game is very CPU dependan and so fps easly dropping on many places. I have loved the game so far. It does not look bad. I love how much details there is compaired to fallout 3/nw and now world feels so much more alive.

There's just something that the Bethesda Fallout games manages to get my full attention. I'm not much of a role player but I always end up making little intricate stories and morals that I follow for different characters. Now I wish they'd inject some more Philip K. Dick into the story and I'd be completely content with this game.

I don't have the game yet but I took a look at the system requirements and wow... I have a pretty decent system, not an amazing system but good enough for virtually every game out there and I only BARELY meet the minimum system requirements. One of my friends who has an only slightly worse system than I do is having framerate issues galore with the game and ultimately realized his GPU simply isn't powerful enough to handle the thing. It's almost like Crysis all over again...

I'm one of those old grumpy Fallout fans. The kinda guy who also plays pen and paper RPGs. In addition to that, big time PC gamer. So, Fallout 4 has a lot of things going against it, in my book. Streamlining, removing, "consolizing". Not to mention this still has all the tellings of Gamebryo, which I'm sure has pre 2000's code in it still. And Bethesda's had some bad string of stories so I'm sad that's still happening.
That said, there's no ignoring the game has its fans. Frick, I'm a likely target by some of the more militant for my opinion. Enjoy it those who may. And I might just get it on a steam sale or steam gift.
I find your viewpoint interesting. It's very fair, I think. Even with my own heavier leanings, I must agree. Guess I'm also a bit surprised by the streamlining of skills/stats when crafting seems deeper than ever in a game, combined with deep base building.
TL;DR War never changes, but Fallout has.

16:25 - Nice dress. ;)
This is not my type of game, but I'm glad you got 70 hours out of it and it sounds like you're willing to put in even more! While you were playing, it was strange with you not really being around as much on social media. I missed you, but I'm happy you're back at least for now. :)

I was so excited for this game, and so far, I absolutely love it. The issue for me so far is that I have not found a Moira, or a Tranquility Lane yet... you know, some character or place that is so memorable you just have to tell your friends. I highly recommend it, as a whole. But there is just a charm that is simply not there for me yet. That said, I am only about 10 hours in, so I know it's there. Just gotta keep looking.

Awesome. makes me want to but it even more. I've been very lenient on expensive games, but this seems to be worth it even without mods!

Mods are coming...sooner than later I hope. This means that everyone will have their very own version Fallout 4 soon enough. So if you don't like how the game is structured, that can be changed. Skyrim could be changed and adjusted at its most fundemental levels. Something tells me that modders are going to have even more tools at their disposal this time.
