LGR - Viva Mesh Office Chair Review

Lazy chair reviews? It's about time I guess!

LGR - Viva Mesh Office Chair Review

Comments

Did you send the chair back? Pay the company for the chair? Donate the value of the chair to charity?

Michael Hogan

Neither. It's a review.

LGR

Is this more "sponsored content", or just a plain commercial?

Michael Hogan

There is a chair on TigerDirect right now that 'looks' identical to this one for $109 with no tax and free shipping. I wonder if it might be worth that.

Zem Hysong

Only you could make a chair review so entertaining.

Cory M

I'd love to give that a shot sometime, I've heard nothing but good!

LGR

I'm so happy to have enlightened you to this new world.

LGR

Overpriced but it seems decent

Alyxx the Rat

All I've ever wanted was a chair that allows farts to escape freely. There's nothing worse than a full-bodied, bassy masterpiece going un-noticed by those around you. Thank you for this review. You've changed my life.

RetroSwim

Very funny yet very informative video. Well done ! PS : I always wanted to know about the fart retention of any chair first. Too many reviews forget that important part of quality of life. Thank you ! ;-)

I have a $500 office chair myself and I have similar issues with the armrests, and even had similar issues with my previous $300 chair. Adjustable armrests just seem to suck in general and I imagine you won't get decent ones until you start shelling out even MORE than half a thousand dollars. My previous chair had lock issues too, the problem being the lock lever wouldn't stay up and would always fall down. However, both my current chair and previous were of the same brand and with them, the lock is reversed compared to yours. IE: Up is unlocked and down is locked, so what I ran into was having my chair tilt unlocked, then suddenly locking. I eventually got used to always having it locked and thus never ran into this issue again. The moral of the story is: CHAAAAAAAAAAAIRS! 8D

Perfect, I'm in the market for a chair. My fiancee has a nice artist stool but doesn't like it, so I think a computer chair with collapsable arms is best.

Joseph Coco

I sit on this very same chair at work!

Lon Seidman

That's too bad since I'm actually looking for a real chair. Maybe they'll fix it after your review.

Kristina Smith

That's actually the problem: the lock unlocks even when in the "lock" position.

LGR

Can you tape the lock up/down so it won't unlock?

Kristina Smith

Haha, some axe murderer's backyard... guess I'm an axe murderer :P Happy you enjoyed it!

LGR

haha totally fun. I still hope you do Lazy Food Reviews someday but this was.. interesting and different. I truly appreciate that you cite the pro's and cons and make it an HONEST lazy review. It makes me trust you. it was a total hoot and the fact you shot it outside in some axe murders back yard is just.. AWESOME.

Would you be on the chair during the ice traction test or not, especially considering the test may not end well? :P

Lindsay Michelle

Haha, well thank you, I was actually really concerned about this video being too dull! So I tried to spice it up with the b-roll footage :) And yup, ice is a problem here, especially in the mountains where I am! Would be fun to give a chair the ice traction test.

LGR

I am assuming you were going for a somewhat serious, but still snarky review... but this video was probably the goofiest thing I've ever seen you do, at least not on purpose. I could not stop laughing at you doing weird things in the chair or you making weird faces at the chair or the chair parts moving when you didn't want them to. I lost it with laughter and had to stop the video when you were rolling from one end to the other, having the time of your life. XD Are you still going to do chair reviews outside, even in the winter? You may slip on some ice while rolling around in all those office chairs! (...You do have ice in North Carolina, right?)

Lindsay Michelle

That's the one I was looking at before this, although they cost about $1,200 for the ones with similar features to this Viva chair. I imagine the quality would be excellent though.

LGR

'Bout to step out the door on a brief trip, so no time to watch. Will just say that at work I use a Herman Miller Aeron (mesh) chair. It so totally kicks ass that you bet I'm going to buy one for myself sooner or later, even though it costs ~$800.

Kevin Furr

I used to be the same, but my back and posture has been cursing me for it. As someone who spends thousands of hours in an office chair, $600 for long-lasting comfort and health is an easy choice as long as it's a quality device! I do wish this one was better though, because the quality issues are a bummer for the price point.

LGR

I welcome this.

LGR

Agreed entirely. Spending thousands of hours somewhere, you have GOT to treat your body well if you want to stay productive and healthy! And thanks, glad you approve! Haha, and yeah this was filmed nearby, but I think the only strange looks were from a few passing birds!

LGR

I couldn't ever justify spending 300 dollars, much less 600 dollars on a chair. I actually scavenged my favorite office chair. It was about to be thrown away, the base was even unbolted. I put it back together, tightened all the bolts and springs, and removed the armrests. I've never liked armrests myself, they always bump into things. At home I just use an old wooden kitchen chair on a rug. Minimal, and sturdy. I totally understand the desire for a nice chair, but at the end of the day, as long as it doesn't feel like it's going to break, and it doesn't impede my work, I'm happy.

I guess you will probably get some more chair review request and have a house full of office chairs. The army (of chairs) shall rise! lol

One could argue the office/desk chair is the most important component for your computer. Sure you can have your fancy 8 core processors, 32GB of RAM, hard disk space galore, and a PSU that could power a small country. But why have a computer when you can't sit in peace playing games, browsing the webs, or inventorying your massive game collection? (900+ and counting :D) A decent chair is an important... nay.... VITAL part to your computer enjoyment. As far as the review goes, an excellent dissection of a chair. I also hate it when the latches don't latch and you're suddenly thrown to an uncomfortable position. Also, was this review filmed near your backyard? I can only imagine the neighbors' reaction seeing you roll your office chair on the driveway like a doofus. XD
