I remember an episode of the Computer Chronicles from the mid 80's where they talk about either a HP or a Compaq (can't remember which) which had a touch screen and Gary Kildall mentioned that touch screens aren't really new technology. Think about that: touch screens weren't new even in the mid 80's. O_O

good to know that memory has gone down the tubes... lol.. great video. totally geektastic. I'm always curious if there is a market for preserving more utilitarian software. I did a thrift run this weekend and found an old Interplay (yeah, the game guys) cd for programming in basic to make games and stuff. I don't have the manual but I rarely see Interplay software and I'd NEVER heard they did educational stuff like this. But then I wonder.. will it ever have value past my geeking? lol

I glad you did these videos. Somewhere deep in my mind is a memory of a IBM computer in the computer lab at my school and now I know that it was a PS/2 with OS/2 that ran the network. Neat.

A dot matrix printer! I remember ours when we got our 486 in 1992, I always loved the sounds from that printer. I don't miss the monitors much from that era, but I always liked the sound of the computer beep when you start the computer. Great haul you got there, I bet you are going to have alot of fun...

All of the things I tried for years to upgrade from, low resolutions, whirring fans and the clicking and klacking of mechanical keyboards. Now I get so much joy from rediscovering those things! I only wish I hadn't get rid of all my obsolete hardware over the years. My biggest regret is when I out grew my 286 with its trusty EGA monitor. So many games stuffed onto that 20MB hard drive. At the time I moved onto a 386 and didn't look back... That is why I'm glad I can support you saving machines like these!

I love the, what are those? Model 60? Oh Yeah they look so sexy! They look like real Machines, not like thos baby toys they sell today. Seriously I was looking for a new Case for my PC because the old one is pretty beaten up and it is ever hard getting a modern PC into an old Tower and even mine is pretty ugly compared to the Model 60 looking at the cases today let me whish they rerelease something as classy as the Model 60 just readjusted for modern PCs and Cooling Systems.

That's certainly the motherlode. I don't think I've ever seen a tower setup as gigantic as those ones (and even with a carry handle - rather convenient considering the size of them). As for anything particular to cover, I don't think I really have any prefs - pretty much just look forward to whatever you do plan to record about 'em in the future :)

The systems alone were worth the 300 you spent. But along with all those extra drives, RAM, manuals, disks, disks, AND MORE disks?!? My god, it's a cornucopia of old school computer goodness. Also, installing Windows 95 via disks? Is it as much of a pain in the ass as I'm thinking it is? :P

No idea about Blender, I didn't know it could do video. But I use Adobe Premiere CC 2014.

Hey, I'm curious what you use to edit videos. I've been wanting to try making some videos of stuff I do, and I've heard that Blender is a surprisingly capable video editing tool. I made 3D models on it for 5 years before I even heard you could edit videos with it. I know most people use Apple stuff for video editing, but I just don't have that kind of money to spend at this point in my life.

Can't wait to show more!

The RCA out is indeed for SCSI CDROM drives, it effectively takes the link cable that would normally go to the sound card and gives you RCA output instead.
