LGR [in 60FPS!] Silverball - DOS PC Game Review

Interestingly, I watched this again and remembered that I've found a fun looking game on Steam that's related to the topic: how about combining pinball...with RPGs?! "Rollers of the Realm" does it, and apparently does it quite well if the reviews are to be believed. And it's only $10 non-sale, so why not?

Woo! I ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING! ...I guess. Loved the video, LGR. Just out of curiosity, have you played any of the "free" pinball games available on PSN (and I assume Xbox Live)?

Yeeeah, think I'll skip on this one and stick to Epic Pinball. Or Zen Pinball since I like competing with leaderboards on Steam.

There's a Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. Go there. Nao.

Oh now that's definitely cool! There's virtually no decent location play in my city (last I checked anyways) so most of my play has been at people's homes for league nights, which are currently held monthly. Took a look at that place's list of games... Mostly older stuff but a decent selection all the same. Wait until you get a chance to try out some newer pins like Tron Legacy, X-Men, AC/DC, or even Wizard of Oz which has a full-colour HD display instead of a DMD! :O

I'm kind of in the same boat, especially when the games are as "off" as this one. Ever since the pinball museum opened up near me, I've been getting a healthy filling of the real deal and it's just... oh man, it's wonderful. http://ashevillepinball.com/photos/

I've been playing so much real pinball lately that I absolutely just can't play these old DOS games anymore... the physics are so VASTLY different that I just don't feel in control at all. :( Also, coincidentally, our local pinball league is having their season playoffs tomorrow for the top 24 ranked players. I'm ranked 20th out of about 100 people so... I'm probably gonna get annihilated, but hey, just getting to play the real thing on a regular basis is fun in its own right! :)

It's crazy how popular pinball games were back in the DOS days. I picked up a lot of about 50 old games not long ago, and like a third of them were pinball titles. In that bunch was a copy of Silverball Plus 2 complete in the box. I didn't know much about it, so this video really was enlightening!

Wow!

Oh man! I only own Alien Crush on the TG16. I have Devil's Crush on the Wii Virtual Console. When Devil's Crush appears on eBay, it can fetch for quite a lot of money, especially over here in the UK! Speaking of Naxat Video pinball games. Ever played Jaki's Crush on the Super Famicom? It's like Devil's Crush, but it has a Japanese demon theme to it.

Ian Guebert

Oh yeah, those remain quite popular within the right circles!

LGR

Haha, thanks :D

LGR

Much frame rate!

LGR

I have both Devil's Crush and Alien Crush for my TG-16, I love those games.

Ast-e-oid! lol! Speaking of PC pinball. I had a collection back in the late nineties called Pinball Mania; it was ok I guess, but the disc had this weird piece of Mal-ware that forces you Win 95/98 machine to have a background that has the company's logo on it. Very irritating! However the best video pinball in my opinion unfortunately wasn't on the PC, but rather on the TurboGrafx 16 and PC Engine called Devil's Crush. It's a bit more of a video game with pinball physics in it, but it's a totally awesome game that's worth finding, and the best game on the system hands down!

Oooh, such video quality!

By far the second best thing about 90's pinball tables: the ripping of the music files and randomly destroying them in scream tracker (or fasttracker\impulse tracker\etc). I tried looking for modern system alternatives for these programs quite a while ago, and amazingly there seemed to be a lot of support for it still. Nostalgic music programming FTW

That was the smoothest page turning that I've ever seen on camera. IT'S JUST LIKE REAL LIFE. :O Thank you, 60 fps. Oh, and the pinball game looked good too. :P
