Anyone have any questions?

I've posted a bit online that I'm in P-Town for womens week!

Tomorrow, we're doing an event with Laura Green (who recently released a podcast featuring me and Monica). It's going to be me, Monica, and Lori Prince! There will also be a few other narrators - Lori's wife Marisa Calin, Quinn Riley, and Bailey Carr.

It's going to be a Q&A, and Laura asked if we had any questions that we'd like to address. So, I figured I'd reach out here and see if anyone has any questions they'd like featured at the Q&A!

Anything for me, Monica, Lori, or any of the narrators is welcome as a suggestion!

I'll be posting the recording here, when it's all ready, too :)

Thanks!

Actually, I have the same question, like, how the author and the narrator interact, like is there any discussions before the audiobook goes out ? And also, I discovered Monica, and her amazing stories, through Lori Prince. I listened to the audiobook of TWW, and I loved the narration so much that I ended up downloading all of Lori Prince's work, which included Monica's

If you go to the general conversation chat here on patreon, 4 weeks ago Sandrakb posed this conversation! It was a really interesting/thoughtful chat! I have a lot of thoughts on this, which I laid out there :)

Congratulations!!!!

Angelica

Is there a chance Alia from TWW will get her own story?

Scarlet

Does Lori have a Darling tee shirt? Lol…Do the narrators have a mental or physical picture of the characters as they work? How do they keep track of the voices?

Chris

For everyone, does everyone have a favorite scene from the HCLU?

Kayla Bhadra

I second these!

I know its not even out yet so I don’t expect an answer but potential novella for Regan and Emma?? AND MAYBE Ellie and Mia?? One day!

Kathryn Crowley

How long does the process take and what part is the most time consuming? From shower thought of an idea to publishing 😃

I have one I've been thinking about for a while but it isn't a softball question so feel free to ignore. Is there any drama in the narrator world with narrating characters of a different race? Particularly ones that use certain dialects like AAVE. The reason I ask is that I have a theory that this is one of the reasons so many Sapphic writers (even when stories take place on melting pots like California or DC) never put a POC as a character. Not a main, not a side, not even a rando on the street - we simply do not exist. I want to make it clear that I don't think any of the writers are racist at all otherwise I wouldn't support them lol. Most are allies. I'm honestly just curious. There's been major strides to feature more diverse stories (particularly neuro divergent, gender noncomforming, and body positive) but a POC in Sapphic romance by anyone who isn't a POC is still extremely rare.

Do authors select or request specific narrators? For narrators: is it difficult to have a different voice/tone/timber for each book you narrate so as to differtiate the characters from a previous book?

Tanya

That's amazing! Congrats!!

Jess Bullock

Who is your favorite character you’ve written?

Sarah Malicek

1. Could you tell THE Lori Prince thank you for narrating Those Who Wait (specifically Charlotte) and the Dont Call Me a Hero series (specifically Julia). 2. For the authors and narrators, do you guys have working sessions on how the character should be narrated? Do the narrators pick your guys brain for the characters frame of mind in order to bring about the right emotion? Thank you for including us in on this! You’re too good to us Haley!

Angelica

Thanks!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 🎉🎈🎊

Angelica

I wish I could stay for that part but I have to get back to Boston so get my 10 year sobriety chip. Plan on seeing you guys earlier in the day though!

drocks27

Omg now I’ll be able to sleep at night 😮‍💨😂 thank you!

Angelica

Marisa has the most incredible English accent! She actually narrated the TWW breakup scene in her "real" voice, and I'll post it here!

Haley Cass

One of her narrated books is a sapphic one: Hot Summer by Elle Everhart. Audible has a few minute preview…

Do you fully build out/conceive your characters before you start writing or does their personality come to you during the writing process?

Anna S.

Okay not related to you but this has actually rattled my brain. What does Marisa’s actual voice sound like?! The woman is insanely talented. But as she speaks her accent changes with every other word whenever Lori posts a video.

Angelica

For the authors: when looking to develop an audiobook and selecting a narrator (if you have that option) what do you consider when determining the “right fit” between book and narrator? For narrators: if you have a choice in selecting a work to narrate, what draws you to a particular author or work?

Tina M

And How do you handle writer’s block?

Hana Huskovic

I’m dying to know what Monica is working on or if she has any plans in the near future. Also wondering what comes next for you after the snowball effect. AND are we going to get a book inspired by your awesome friends to lover real life story.

Alex L

I have always wondered - What important advice would you give a first-time author?
