Pages 20, 23, and 24 of Chapter 5 actually do support that little idea, with just those flickers of outside of being controlled, he does appear confused on what the hell has been going on Because if anything, this might be a bit of a funny wake up call to have him waking up and seeing Bernice lose herself like that forever, and now soon, he will also lose himself forever too, due to the Book’s own overwhelming power.

I'm actually really adoring this "bright yellow shirt with black jacket stretched out by massive tits" I always love seeing clothing stretched over a good pair of titties so I'd love to see that focused on and enhanced as opposed to just plain old unbuttoning. Also it sounds like Byland likely doesn't remember being controlled if he's asking that.
