What a superhero! I loved the message within this episode and of course in true Fringe fashion how the side plot linked to the main plot of the show too. Some brilliantly emotional moments in this episode and bravery and strength too! Loved it. River, your Dad's a Superhero and I'm sure you respect him for this act of selflessness.

I really like this episode. It makes for some nice character study. Amazing what you can do with minimal setting and props and just letting the writers, cast and crew "do their thing." And... I wish I could say I caught this on my own, but out of curiosity I looked up some reviews for the episode and came across something very interesting in a comment. "The latitude coordinates spoken by Videotape Walter were not the same latitude coordinates that Olivia repeated back to Etta. Walter said: “49 degrees, 20 minutes, 2 seconds North, 79 degrees, 12 minutes, 32 seconds West.” That’s a location in Western Quebec, i.e., Eastern Canada. But Olivia heard something different: “41 degrees, 20 minutes, 2 seconds.” (Etta: “Are you sure?” Peter: “She’s sure.”)" I went back and listened to it again to verify, then I plugged those coordinates into a GPS locater site and sure enough... 49 degrees N is up in Ontario, and 41 degrees N is indeed 8 degrees due south near Cooksburg, Pennsylvania. Just a simple, unedited mix up or was that something else going on there? 🤔

2025-07-11 05:34:36 +0000 UTCIn my opinion the whole plot device of the tapes is a stroke of genius on the part of the writers. It adds a mystery within this season that is very compelling. It's not simply "oh we know the plan and then let's drag out the resolution or lack thereof for 13 episodes." It's us figuring out this plan as the season goes on in slow increments and I actually think that's far more interesting and compelling. Plus Walter little idiosyncrasies or walter-isms, as you could call it, in the tapes leads so some great comedy lol
