The First is stepping up their game and I am scuuuured! Buffy is ready to fight though which makes me hype! Hopefully all will be good and the team will work together but this is definitely their biggest threat yet & it's the last season!! EEEEeeeekkk. Poor Spike is being tortured, Andrew is being teased & there are some new pre slayers in town! Bring on the next one!

2023-10-27 17:36:47 +0000 UTCYour accent is lovely, first of all! The baby slayers on the other hand... its rough lol. You're dead on about Drusilla. It might not be a realistic accent but its a great voice and performance. Thats actually how I felt about this character with a scottish accent in Haunting of Bly Manor (You should definitely watch the Mike Flanagan Netflix shows btw). Was it a good scottish accent? No, but it was a great voice/performance so it just worked.

Secondly, you don't need to worry about the finale of Buffy. I've too have seen a lot shows fall at the last hurdle, but BtVS isn't one of them. The last episode is epic.

I do wish they had hired a couple of English actresses for those parts, but they may not be readily available in Los Angeles. ... It's a nice uplift when Buffy declares, basically, "Screw The First, we're killing these guys." ... I can definitely appreciate your not wanting this series to end for you. I kinda don't want your reactions to it to end.

2023-10-25 11:35:27 +0000 UTCThe slayer line is in jeopardy now. Killing all the potential slayers means when Faith dies nobody will be there to be the next slayer. Once there is a gap then the power is lost. It doesn't wait for the next generation to be born. When buffy died in season 6 no new slayer was called because Faith controls the line. Buffy died in 1 called Kendra. Kendra died in 2 and called Faith. Angel and company are dealing with their own big bad currently so the last thing they are thinking about is Faith. Who is still serving her time.

2023-10-25 02:11:14 +0000 UTCReaching the ending will be bittersweet, but what a ride it is. I think from episode 7 onwards you can really start to feel why so many ppl like this season, and to me it really solidifies here. The last time Buffy got such a slapping and the stakes felt so high was season 5 imo. I think therein lies a key part of what makes this season, and season 5 soo good. The stakes are there. It makes you feel like they're fighting a massive uphill battle. Where they really need to search for the answers and it builds throughout the season. I'm a fan :). Also, I think its very symbolic that the first agent, and the thing that is currently the big enemy to deal with is a vampire. Back to the roots. Also this Ubervamp also has a more of a visual resemblance to the master of season 1. I do like that callback. Then there's all the new slayers in waiting. They're gonna be something, and slowly an army is build. The principle still is sus, and they are building it to something. The Dawn and Anya team up against Warren in the beginning was fun. And as always, Willow never change... :)

2023-10-24 22:51:45 +0000 UTCThe Ubervamp sure gave buffy a beatdown but also she was not at 100% because of lack of resting while he had just fed so was at the top of his game. This marks the beginning of buffy's arc as a general and true leader and what that means.

2023-10-24 21:28:07 +0000 UTCThose accents are something, aren't they? Cor blimey guv'nor! Anyone else getting an LOTR vibe with the Uruk-Hai, I mean, Turok-Han? This episode would have originally aired around the same time The Two Towers came out. I've also been a little confused with the Joyce scenes in this episode. I think it's meant to be the real Joyce appearing to Buffy in her slayer dreams, but it's not very clear, especially after 7x07. Nice to see Juliet Landau again, though I kinda wish she was playing the real Dru and not the First.

2023-10-24 21:08:44 +0000 UTCThe two English watchers have appalling accents - but they didn't really distract me just annoyed. Juliet Landau's Dru however did seem to have a very different accent than when she used to appear in the show - that really did distract me a lot more.

Even rewatching here, my first response to Annabelle 'splitting' is, 'oh good, we're about to never hear that accent again.' Not how a writer should build sympathy. Another example of a non British actor doing a good British accent is Alexis Denisof as Wesley (iirc he went to school in the UK). I love the idea of Giles setting up his own council. Would finally bring decency and competence to a rotten institution. Like the premise of a spinoff to a long running British show that was inspired by Buffy from 2005.
