Hello All!

This ep was much needed! I really enjoyed it, even though I cried & it felt very emotional and heavy there were some really satisfying and long awaited moments. Xander & Anya face each other for the first time since the wedding. Buffy's secret is out! Not at all in the way I'd have guessed but holy, it was intense! Tara and Willow are the light at the end putting a smile on my face with their cuteness! One of my favourite episodes I think.

Hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reaction 6x18

Comments

Jim- so, I have a buzz and for some weird reason am compelled to post to you- People are flawed. This character is flawed, We all are flawed. I am certain that if a section of my life was revealed to all, there would be many who would say, what right does he have to say that, to do that? But really, if a section of your life, of most anyone's life were revealed to all, there would be many to say, what right do they have to say that, to do that? People trip sometimes, people make mistakes. We are all people.

I truly hate Xander , what right does he have to tell Anya who she can have sex with , he left her . I really wish that Spike could kill him .

Since you made mention of Willow's father, well, we know very little of Ira Rosenberg, but he and Willow's mother seem to have a successful marriage. Anyway, this is, indeed, a strong episode, and, obviously, big stuff happens. The big happy comes at the end, when Willow and Tara reconcile. I guess that's the most obvious observation in the world.

I think you nailed it when you were talking about depression. 20 years ago, a whole season revolving around the main character being depressed just wasn't that attractive or appealing to audiences but now it's much more appreciated by most people.

This episode is a hard one for me in a few ways. My favorite couple on the show at this point is Xander and Anya, so it really kills me to see them like this. I'll be honest, it's more so that Anya is hurt and the sparkle has left her eye. It's like when Cordy is no longer Cordy because of life stuff. I really don't like that she's a demon again, but at least she couldn't do the deed herself. The montage of her trying to get various people to help her was definitely one of the highlights of the episode for me. I was surprised that Anya pulled out a bottle of Evan Williams whisky at the Magic Shop. I have a hard time believing Giles would choose that over something more refined (I'm an Islay guy myself), but they were doing shots so not a waste. More surprising was that they used an actual Evan Williams bottle and not some fictional whisky to be made to look like EW. I was very happy to see Willow and Tara tentatively getting back to some form of normalcy in their relationship. It's been too long and I miss the comfy feeling of all our people together. And then we have the Magic Shop Anya/Spike Live Cam show. I won't say much except that it made me uncomfortable, particularly when Xander and Buffy saw what was happening, and I wanted the episode to end. I'm glad that Spike and Anya both felt deep regret and I also wish I had some Evan Williams in the house right now. Thank God this ends on a happy note with Willow and Tara getting back together. Hopefully the next episode will be a bit calmer and drama free so we can get back to (sorta) normal. Anya and Xander are still in crisis mode, but at least we know Willow and Tara are back together till the end🤞. Always fun hanging out with you. Thanks Dak!

Anya's pointed line to Xander "No, the mature solution is for you to spend your whole life telling stupid, pointless jokes, so that no one will notice that you are just a scared, insecure little boy!" to me highlights some of the great writing (and acting) in the show. Having spent 6 seasons with Xander we know there's plenty of deep truth in that statement. We also know Anya and Xander well enough to know they both know that truth too. So we know Anya means it to hurt, and that Xander feels it, based on our knowledge of their characters but also in Emma and Nick's performance. One "highlight" in an emotion packed scene, that wouldn't work nearly as well without consistent writing of the characters over the 6 seasons so far.

solid episode. Really its kind of a continuation of last episode in the way that alot of things that have been building this entire season are comming to a head and are getting dealt with. So hopefully ppl can start to actually heal. I love the scenes between Dawn and Buffy, they're finally communicating and connecting again, and you can see Dawn is starting to realize more what Buffy felt these last episodes. Imo, to me this is the point where Dawn starts to realize that maybe, Buffy didn't want to ignore her. Ofcourse theres the push and pull, cos dawn still wants to be let more into buffy's life. Xander and Anya... i mean comic relief with pain. And Anya did the thing that could hurt Xander most, wishes be damned. And then theres Willow and Tara, who are just precious and are the spark of hope at the end of this episode.

One needs be careful of the phrase All Fans but THIS fan totally agrees, all four together

I don't know what guide you're following but just fyi the next 4 Buffy episodes need to be watched back to back. I know some guides differ on that, but all fans agree the next 4 go together just FYI. Love your reactions :)

Solid episode with no monster of the week shenanigans, it's all about the characters here.

I find the hard hitting emotional episodes tend to be my favorites - this is also one of my S6 favorites.

This is my favourite Buffy episode up to this point, which doesn't seem to be a popular opinion. I love how much progress everyone seems to make with their issues. I love the way Spike says 'they'll miss the water now that the well's run dry'. It ties into the theme of entropy, aka 'things fall apart'. Buffy and Dawn's talk, Spike and Anya's encounter, Willow and Tara's reconciliation of course, the reveal to the gang that Buffy's been sleeping with Spike, and even Xander's axe-wielding all feel healing, the latter if only in so far as that he confronts his emotions rather than running from them. Everyone's 'heart holds on when they find that kind of love.'
