Filmed this when I was sick & completely forgot I watched it! Such a significant episode for Buffy too! Riley popped back for a mission which made Buffy really reflect on her life and choices. I think this was needed tbh, seeing how Buffy worried about what Riley thought of where she is in life was telling. Made her ask herself, 'am I proud of where I am and what I am doing?' - personally I think she should be very proud!

sorry to come in late on this, but since nobody else mentioned it, it's possible that Spike was doing this job as "The Doctor" to make money for Buffy, so she doesn't have to work at Doublemeat anymore.

2023-07-16 10:45:35 +0000 UTClol looks like I'm in minority because I don't really care about this episode, especially the high and mighty Riley coming back with his Mary Sue wife. I do however love Buffy finally breaking it off with Spike (and calling him William. So symbolic!)

2023-07-14 10:56:47 +0000 UTCThis is one of the best episodes of season six, in my view. Riley, who I always liked, is pretty much the best person to come in at this point in Buffy's life. She wants, on one level, to go back to a time before all the pain and the shame she feels for how she's dealt with it, and Riley never knew that version of her. When it turns out that that exit is blocked, Riley nonetheless reminds her of who she really is. At the end, she breaks things off with Spike and steps into the light. ... As an aside, Riley and Sam are a great couple. And Willow is hilarious.

2023-07-13 16:28:29 +0000 UTCBuffy took a major step today and calling him William brings her back to a place she has not been since season 5. Treating spike like a man not a vampire. Riley presences in this episode is much needed. Not to long ago he was the one using a vampire to satisfy needs he wasn't getting in his relationship. It may seem out of character but him not judging buffy is completely expected because of his experiences and even his advice comes from the dark place he himself had to come back from in order to be where he is now. Now two people close to buffy know and they still care about her and didn't judge her to harshly. Maybe she can use that to help her share with her friends.

Honestly, this always was a bit of a weird, out there episode to me with riley suddenly showing up. He's definitely a plot device here to get Buffy to do some introspection and start figuring out her stuff. Much needed, but kind of a weird showup. It was handled well though, but yea.. thats my take xD. Spike is spike as always, except when Buffy says goodbye with William, you can just see him flashing back. All in all i think its a solid episode, that will close off some things left unsaid before.
