Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reaction 6x13

I wanted to try the Patreon built in video but was stuck on 'processing' for way too long so just sticking to what I know for this post.

Please use one of the links at the bottom of this post to watch this video, thank you:

Hello All!

Another heated episode between Spike & Buffy! The ending of her sobbing onto Tara broke me a little bit. I think it will be good for Buffy to finally open up to someone though & let all that emotion out. Warren and his minions went WAY too far in this one, was uncomfy to watch & they're all in way over their heads!

Hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reaction 6x13

Comments

Man, they are hell bent on beating us up emotionally this season or what? That ending was hard. And the more we see of Spike and Buffy, the more unclear both of their motives become. Do they love each other? Are they using each other? Are they both coping with other things in this way? Who knows...

So, I completely forgot to comment... To me this episode is always weird. That first part of the episode is hella awkward, but then the second part of the episode is quite good, I never know what to think of it. I like Tara in this episode a lot, and the scenes between her and Willow were on point. On the whole though, not one of my favourite episodes.

Bart Aansorgh

One of my least favorite episodes for a few reasons, but let's look at the good. Obviously the return of the ever amusing sexual stuff with Buffy and Spike, which ran all through the episode. The interaction between Buffy and Tara was nice, especially since Tara has been absent. Xander and Anya, of course. They can't really put me in a bad mood anyway. The tiresome stuff takes up the rest of the episode for me and mainly involves the Geek Squad. They've become real, actual villains. Kidnapping, imprisonment, very near to sexual assault and rape. Oh, and then the murder. "Cool..." Warren needs to die. This episode was very melodramatic. It felt like a second-tier soap opera in many places. This is one of those that I'd skip on a rewatch, or watch and use my remote to skip certain scenes. I do feel for Buffy because there's been times where I was depressed with my current situation, as have all of us. Something big has to happen to snap her out of this fugue. This whole comment is probably unfairly negative because my computer zonked out last night and currently I'm stuck with my phone, so I'm a bit thorny. Ordering a new one in a few days. Favorite line of this video came from Dak, right at the start: ''It's no longer Buffy and her magic vagina, it's Spike and his magic peen.'' Hard to beat a good fang bang. Thank you Dak.

One of the things I appreciate most about this fairly dark episode is that we see how disgusted with herself Buffy is because of her relationship with Spike. It's important because I feel like some viewers maybe don't get it. Tara displays her very good heart by showing such compassion towards Buffy... though, it would have been funny if they had called back to Season 5's "Intervention" by having Tara's immediate response to Buffy, after realizing she's sleeping with Spike, to be yelling "Are you kidding?! You're nuts!" But, nah, can't do that.

Koz

When taking a look at Spike's earliest examples of "love" we have - Angelus, Darla or Drusilla as role models ?? πŸ€”πŸ˜’ Add in his own soullessness and .. "I'm going to find Dru, tie her up and torture her till she likes me again πŸ‘ "

Jon Freezin-Rain

Leaving this comment while I watch, and I'm toward the start. I think when Buffy said, "I'd ask Willow but...", Buffy just meant, she'd ask Willow but they're keeping her out of the magic stuff, and asking her might pull her back in.

Raven Dark

This episode truly shows a darker side to the geeks we have been laughing at the last few episodes. Like the comments above have said this is the first time that they are doing vile acts of villainy. Warren is disgusting but at least the other two showed some kind of guilt. Buffy has finally told someone about her and spike and she is struggling so much with trying to get back to her level of morality that she almost got herself arrested for nothing. Without a soul spike can't really feel why he should care that buffy "killed" a innocent. The only reason he is protecting her is because HE will lose her if she goes to jail. He doesn't care that buffy is literally suffering with guilt if she doesn't turn herself in.

I think Buffy and Spike are more than toxic: they are downright abusive. Buffy is physically abusive towards Spike and Spike is emotionally abusive towards Buffy. I also think, in this episode, the Trio's clear and unambiguous abuse of Katrina is a reflection of the mutually abusive relationship between Buffy and Spike, helping the audience see that what is happening between Buffy and Spike is not a healthy relationship at all.

John

There's so much in this episode to unpack but I think the pivotal part is the Trio, mainly Warren, going from comic book villains and silly characters to the real Big Bad. Until now they've been the ones you laugh at and don't take seriously now they crossed a line that they can't come back from.

Collinson

This is the episode where Warren shows himself to (arguably) be the worst villain we've seen on the show thus far. When Katrina screams, "it's rape", Johnathon and Andrew look genuinely taken aback; they really are little boys playing at being men, too caught up in their fantasy world of being supervillains to understand the reality of the situation until someone literally yells it in their faces. Warren, on the other hand, is almost looming behind Katrina, like a snake that's ready to strike its prey. The look on Warren's face in that moment says that he knew exactly what he was doing when the cerebral dampener was used on his former girlfriend. Warren is human, he has a soul, but he's also a psychopath. This is the episode where the psychopath's mask finally falls & we get to see Warren for who he truly is, pure evil.

Claire Eyles

I agree with you about Tara. She’s also the most caring and non-judgmental!

Teresa Schultz

Everybody needs a Tara in their lives!

Mirko Paskota

This is one of my favourite episodes (in S6 and overall). It's incredibly disturbing and dark for all the correct reasons. I love the throwbacks to Life Serial - the time distortion, Spike trying to convince her she belongs in the dark... That was the 1st time that Buffy expressed how lost she feels after her resurrection and that wrongness she feels echoes even more strongly now. I love the consistency of Buffy ready to turn herself in, the way she did all the way in S2. She might feel wrong but she's still willing to do the right thing (though if it's for the right reasons is up for debate). I love the parallels to S3 and S4 Faith, and Buffy's violence and self-loathing. And finally I love what they did with the trio. Because they are a bunch of immature assholes who were playing the villains only to cross the line you can't get back from. Everything has consequences in life. Especially if you're a pathetic douchebag who thinks women owe you something. Also if I had issues like Buffy I'd confide in Tara as well. She's been consistently supportive and is by far (IMO) the most mature out of them all.
