The Last of Us Pilot Reaction

I've just realised that I didn't share the pilot with the new tier changes so here it is. If you'd like to see this show, please join the Devil's Trap tier. I have all of my season 1 reactions there and tomorrow I will be starting season 2 there as well. If you have any issues watching, drop me a message and I'll try and sort asap <3

Please use one of the links at the bottom of this post to watch this video, thank you:

Hello All!

This show is brilliant!!! I will be watching every episode no doubt about it, cant confirm a regular upload but keep a look out guys! I will say my file corrupt on this episode so I've had to split it into two parts, next upload will be one hopefully! I will keeping this in The Devil's Trap and above for now.

My first thoughts are...The casting of this show is genius! I'm very happy so far (was sceptical at first). They seem to be staying true to the game which is awesome! I do think that the episode where I wont know what's coming will be more fun for me to watch ( I didn't finish the game ). The death scene in this still royally hit me in the feels mind. Bring on the next one!

Hope you enjoy the reaction folks. Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

The Last of Us Pilot Reaction

Comments

I realized on my second rewatch that the Lizzie/Myka girl was euthanized. Tragic, and it affected me more than I thought.

Another live reaction commentary on my rewatch 24 hours later. Of course Dak's hair is fire. You heard it all before. I forgot about Mercy, the dog. I've had dogs in my life since I was born. We've had two dogs of our own for many years, Casey and Cleo, both female. We had to say goodbye to Casey on November 15th; she was twelve. Cleo is eight so we hopefully have some good years left with her. She's my best friend and we watch TV together. Sometimes I'll put on a YouTube video of squirrels and birds on my phone and prop it up for her to watch. I forgot that in the episode Sarah had fixed the watch as opposed to seemingly buying a new one in the game. She wouldn't have had the money to buy a new watch like the game showed. Haha, Mercy said, "Fuck it, I'm out." At least the size of the various rooms and hallways in their house is realistic as opposed to the game. Nobody has eight-foot wide hallways and five hundred square foot bedrooms. The stuff coming out of her mouth made me put away my Takis (Fuego, of course). I've already watched this, why is my heart racing? Agree Dak, the town scene is so true to the game, I once again kept grabbing my mouse to move and change direction. The twitchy, herky-jerky zoms are very unsettling, but also cool as fack. On second watch, I did notice that Sarah's death scene didn't have the little squeaks that voice actress Hana Hayes added in the game, which was one of the things that triggered my tears during that sequence. Still heartbreaking though. I'm still really curious about the Lizzie/Myka child. I'm assuming at this point it's younger Ellie, but I could be wrong. Anna Torv is a great Tess. Wow. Bella swearing still feels weird. Captions for graffiti. Genius. lol I need to make an under-the-floorboards hidey hole. Many reviews have criticized Bella's acting, but so far I'm a fan. We'll see how it develops. Camera angles affect perception. Joel is Joel and then he isn't momentarily, same with Ellie. I'm still on board. Joel's slight smile when she says "Your watch is broken." gave me momentary arrhythmia. That flashback to Sarah when Ellie was threatened gave me a skipped heartbeat. That final shot of the high-rise falling to rest on the other high-rise was so canon.

In! Totally! 👍 I've been intrigued by this title for some time, but my only familiarity with it is from watching the first 30 minutes or so from game play videos on Youtube. Based on just that... holyyy did they ever nail the look and feel of the game in this production! Very impressed.

I've been looking forward to this series since it was announced, but was disdained when reading reviews after it's debut. From my research I learned that the casting choices were questionable. Dak's hair looks fantastic as usual. Disliked the opening sequence. It's completely made up and, for me, ruins the tension of the original game; ruins the iconic, and ultimately tragic, beginning of the game. As all fans of the game, I was excited about the series, but had reservations about the casting, based on early reviews. Going any deeper would only add division, so, as Dak would say, "That's a "no" from me". When I saw how long the episodes were, I balked. I was hoping Dak would react, because that would save 90 minutes of my life every week or so. When I got the notification for the first episode reaction, my heart leapt. Thank you, Dak. These are my real time notes. I'll understand if you skip this long-ass post. I really liked Nico Parker's acting, really REALLY liked it. But she doesn't look anything like Sarah, and that takes me out of the story. But she really impressed me, and I'm officially a fan. The lines and delivery of the game dialogue is cool so far, especially from Nico. Fan! Pedro Pascal is a great actor, LOVED him in GoT, and his voice is so Joel, and his look is very Joel-like. I like it so far. Liked the alternate intro and extra jail stuff with Tommy. Fleshed him out. Cool beans. Once they started recreating actual scenes from the game, I felt like I was watching a "Let's Play" video and it was just really good animation. One of those "wait, what?" moments, but on constant repeat. I originally started writing that I wished that they had stayed with the game intro of Sarah's first encounter with an infected - "You shot him..." - but that scene was awesome. Damn, Tommy sounds like Tommy. This freaks me out, the scenes are virtually carbon copies in the car scene. I grabbed my mouse to look around. How is this so much like playing the game? I keep grabbing my mouse. Witchcraft. Why am I tearing up? Holy shit. Sarah's death scene was so much more impactful than in the game that a tear rolled down my cheek. Did I mention that Nico is amazing? I like this scene of the little girl walking clumsily. She looks like a blending of Lizzie and Myka from The Walking Dead. It's pretty eye-rolling that they added captions for a SIGN. Whoa, is that Ellie?! I loved how they fleshed out the city with the little interactions. Oh hell yeah, she IS Tess. Love seeing what actually happened. Her voice calms me. Dak, I think I stained my pants too. Bella looks nothing like Ellie, but the reveal scene was nice. Lyanna Mormont swearing was a bit of a surprise, in a good way. Points to the captions for not mistakenly showing "everyday" for "every day". People should take note. Not liking the implied drug and alcohol addiction of Joel, but partially identifying with it (drink). Men who abuse women, for whatever reason, should be... Bella swearing makes me a bit uncomfortable, but I need to remember that she's 19 now, probably 18 when she filmed this. I was a foul-mouthed 18-year-old too. Weren't we all? The diction and timing of the lines are so true to the game. Impressed. These extra scenes add so much to the story and it makes me so happy. Why do I feel like I need to protect Lyanna Mormont at all costs? "Your watch is broken". That's heavy and I feel like a lot of folks missed the reference. Poor Sarah. Nice twist with the Police scene with Joel knowing him from the drug sales, but turned even darker. Epic first episode and epic reaction. Dak delivers again

Brian Dworak

no-one faults her she had to keep the child calm to make it as painless as they could also to note yes tess is from fringe also the actress who plays marlene was the same actress who did the voice and mocap (body motion and look of the character)

Liam Harrold

i'm sad , they didn't take jensen ackles to play joel tho...

Oooh! Can't wait to watch this reaction. I've never played the game myself, but the show has been absolutely terrific so far.

Neil Silverman
