GILES!!! Your eyes gave you away...brb...i'm gonna go cry. This ep reminds everyone about the love we have for Rupert & it was great to see. The comedy was awesome as ever, especially seeing Spike & monster Giles together. Brilliant!

Unfortunately, you haven’t noticed that Riley has been in the opening credits for the last two episodes (because you were involved in your theme music dance) or else your idea that, from a writer’s point of view, he and Buffy will not last, would be differently informed. I’m guessing that’s one reason he appears in the credits in the previous episode, to set a beginning to their relationship.

2022-07-20 09:29:19 +0000 UTCA comedy episode (and yes, one of the reasons I love the show is moments like Giles catching Ethan because of his monologue - totally subverting the cliché). As such, used for character development (Giles increasingly feeling useless, Buffy/Riley, Willow/Tara, Spike moving on, Prof Walsh demonstrating again that her emotional perceptiveness is undermined by her lack of empathy - which is very similar to Spike, as has been shown before) and foreshadowing. I notice you rarely mention the titles. I hope you are noticing them though, as like much else, they're often carefully crafted and can have more import than at first glance.

2022-07-19 20:10:50 +0000 UTCTara & Willow. Tara - “Willow? Start up slow doing what?” Willow - “Oh! … yeah, of course … the spell, clearly the reason I'm here with you. The spell that, only accidentally, is the most romantic I managed to find in my books.” Willow has always been the sweetest person of all for sure ,,, till now, but, maybe, now she found a serious contender for the title. Really annoying scene. Spike is having a blast running from the Initiative, he makes an hard turn and it looks like he managed to leave the soldier behind but he ends up smashing Giles' car against a wall and … end scene. Wait! … Sry What! You can quite feel that the scene lacks an actual closure and it just end abruptly. This is definitely quite bad but actually it's not what I found annoying in this scene. What annoys me is that Spike crashes Giles' car! That car was almost a recurring character from the very beginning of the show. It appeared, in all it's glory, in the “Witch” episode (1x03) and its end should have treated better. You could imagine that they would at least bring back the destruction of the car in one of the following episodes but … no, not a single line, not a comment, a joke, or a snarky remark … nothing! Spike crashes it, and that's it, Giles' car is basically erased from the show and from the memory of all the characters. What can I say … I'm disappointed.
