In Ronnie Van Zant's words he "took the entire South to task for the bloody history of slavery and its aftermath. We thought Neil was shooting all the ducks in order to kill one or two" Anyway Southern Man is so good, a great reparations song. Really bad look to get uptight about it and write a Not All Southerners song, even if it's catchy as hell. Regardless, they were apparently friends (or friendly), and Young occassionally covers Sweet Home Alabama which is cute imo. Young would later call his own song Alamaba "condescending and accusatory" which is basically true. The guitar intro rips though. Sorry for the long post lol my bad

Which is absolutely ridiculous because Iâm her family, and the idea that the love could be ranked as more or less than a romantic relationship is (1) perverse (2) ridiculous because sibling love is eternal despite crazy fights and betrayals, and romantic love is more ephemeral. I can hate my sister more than anything but I will still always love her. And family (while mine is flawed and abusive) is kinda something that transcends romantic relationships as far as the depth of love and the longevity of the relationship. Romantic relationships are deep and carnal but (in my experience) can be short-lived in many cases.
