Some fans just found an interesting extra and decided to roll with her being Sinistra. She is not described in the books, so I decided to give my own twist to her. I take character ethnicity seriously considering the HP world is supposed to be a couple of centuries behind compared to the muggle one. It would be strange for there to be multiple characters with African features for example, and those that exist I made sure they have corresponding backgrounds. Aurora Sinistra being African simply was not convenient for me. Now if she was at least described by JKR as African, or had a foreign sounding name, I would have worked with that.
