EB - Chapter 11 - Teaser 1

After 12 votes, it was a close one, but no bimbo strippers for you this time. Back to business!

This chapter is going to be a heavy one. In multiple senses of the word. I don't want to call it the 'recap episode' of the novel, but there is going to be an element of that, while we learn all kinds of new things in the process. The 'recap' episode. Hah. A trope of many tv shows and anime where halfway through a season (Or sometimes at the end of a long run) they look back on all the times they've had together while remembering the good times.

To the creator of said shows, replaying a bunch of clips and only using one or two actors as a conceit to let the rest of the cast take their vacation days or whatever and save money on the shooting schedule sounds like a great idea.

That isn't how it is for me, sadly. But it is enjoyable. This chapter is first and foremost a way for me to kick back in gear for this series since I've spent one or two months away from it working on other things. In fact, I released Chapter ten in its entirety in mid May. More like three months. Shrug. The recappy elements of this chapter also serve as a means to help readers (and myself) understand the general timeline and locations of people, and what they are doing. It feels pretty clear to me, since its largely in chronological order besides a few flashbacks, but sometimes having an eye in the sky can help.

What I really like about this chapter is that it is going to reveal a lot more plot and mystery about a certain character. One we don't hear from that often. (This is a funny sentence for reasons you will understand shortly.) I am figuring out how many of the cards I should hold close to my chest and how many I can let you have a peep at and how many I can put on the table. Sometimes while I am writing I think I am dropping pretty big hints, but wonder if its overkill or maybe not clear enough. Tough to know when you are writing and not actually reading it for the first time.

One more thing I like about this chapter is the fact that we can enjoy many of the expansion scenes of the book, but through a new lens and with a new point of view. Many know and read me because of how slow, plodding, and methodical I am about expansion. What if you could take all that and then just right-click the video and set playback to 4x? Are you getting excited?

I will address the release schedule in my early-week check in and go from there.
