EB Chapter 9 (Teaser 2)

Feeling good? I am feeling quite nice actually. Kind of an easy one for me this week. So glad I could get this out there for you all without any trouble.
I mentioned it in another post, or maybe a chat, I have no idea anymore. I mentioned that this was meant to be a simple transitionary chapter to the next one and it ended up blowing up quite a bit. And that's not all. (Ay)
After having a whole novel of these characters interacting and going through what some might consider literally hell together, after the 'magical time between then and now' (Convenient writer fiat.) things have changed dramatically, and we are learning how much. Val and the main character, MC, have been through the most together. I suppose not counting the doctor. In the previous book (Dramatic spoilers for EM) MC was down 'there' with the doctor for a week or two before Val even showed up. And then it was another handful of weeks (I am actually working out the timeline down to the day as I work through the previous story.) the three of them before the climax.
There was a lot of skipping around, and I think those two spent a lot of time talking to each other, even when they were being milked for everything they had.
For them to meet again under these circumstances made me wonder about that off screen time and how they spent it. Neither of them are 100% clear headed about it for reasons obvious in those chapters, but they can both feel it as clear as day.
