Am I too cruel to my characters?

I attempted to formulate the answers to this poll from 'less cruelty' to 'more cruelty' in descending order. Here is hoping that comes through.

Looks like roughly 60~70 percent feel the suffering is balanced well/not as big a deal in the shadow of expansion. 10% wouldn't mind a bit more suffering and 20% want a bit more leniency. I appreciate the input very much! Going to close the poll here. Thank you!
