Hello hello! :)
I hope you're well and have enjoyed a splendid September. It's time for an update and of course this month's LR-preset.
September for me was really cool. Two friends came to visit in Tokyo and we went on two day-trips and a photography walk in the city.
I finished the last Scotland video and began working on the first episode of the new season of Japan videos, which you might have already seen (posted about a week ago). It felt a bit odd editing the Scotland video while in Japan and I was already really looking forward to editing the Japan video.
I also finally scanned the first stack of film I shot here, though I'm not even half way in actually converting the negatives.
Later in the month Melli, my Sister and I went on a day-trip to Yokohama, which was cool and then Melli and I went on one last day-trip to Mishima for her Birthday, before she then caught her flight back to Austria. So now I'm in Japan sort of alone (not really, my Sister and Granny are here, but Melli will be missed).
Btw. this city called Mishima that we visited, I can definitely recommend! For anyone travelling to Japan, who likes the idea of exploring a slightly more random place, I think this is pretty cool. It's a cute town with a lovely river, a beautiful main-shrine and an overall good atmosphere. While it's quieter than the big cities, it still feels lively not like some other places I've been to which are sadly becoming depressingly empty. It's just a 40 minute ride with the Shinkansen from Tokyo Station and if you're lucky you get to see Mt. Fuji. Just thought I'd send this out there :D
And finally this past week has been mostly work-focused again, of which the result has just been published to the channel. I'm taking you with me on a Sunday morning in a residential area of Tokyo called Asagaya. I really like how the morning and consequently the video turned out. I even got to see a local baseball match by coincidence.
The photography on this day was shot with the Lumix GX80 and while editing the shots I found myself going with an overall pretty consistent look that was warm but slightly green leaning and more contrasty than my usual edits. And so I decided that this shall become the preset of the month :)
THE PRESET:
It's named after the place that inspired it. It is pretty warm with a slight shift to green and more contrasty than my usual edits. The highlights remain fairly soft, however the shadows fall off into darker tones. I recommend using this in sunny shots especially in the morning light - I think it generally will work better in urban areas.
The main control I'd tweak after applying the preset is the Exposure slider. With just that you can really change the brightness and contrast of the image when this preset is applied. Also check your White Balance and Tint, though I think they should be fine because I actually embedded them in the preset this time, which I don't usually do. The preset will automatically set your Temperature to 5600K and your Tint to 0.
I also exported a mobile version of this preset as a .dng file, for the mobile users :)
I hope you like the look and can have fun with the preset! If you have any questions, feel free to comment or write me a DM here on Patreon :)
Wishing you a lovely week! <3
