May LR Preset: Cold Express

it's time to present to you this month's preset! This look was a very impulsive decision as I was randomly recommended a little scene from Chunking Express. I was so in awe with the unique look of that scene and reeeally need to watch that film some time soon. But for now I have saved the feeling and look in my mind and decided to try to recreate it in Lightroom with a couple photographs that I felt would suit this type of look.
So as you can see, the look is aimed towards night shots that are lit with white artificial light. I suppose the film was shot on a tungsten balanced film stock and hence looks so blue, but what made me fall in love was the magenta tint.
So with the help of mostly the curves and a low contrast I've made this preset that will shine once you adjust the white balance appropriately. As always I've added the settings in the example pictures and you can see that the cold look mostly comes from the white balance being set somewhere around 3000 and below. However the magenta tint is actually something that originally comes from the lights I think. I've added a touch of it in the preset so you mostly will not need to adjust the tint towards magenta (in the examples it is often far to the green side, because the camera was balancing the magenta shift of the original light source).
Also you should know that I added about 1 stop of exposure to all of these photos after applying the preset to get this hazy bright look.
