The hospital where I work has a small municipal airport about a mile and a half away and the egress pattern takes them right over us, usually about a six hundred to a thousand feet up . Granted these are small planes, but it is disconcerting.

2021-05-13 20:27:34 +0000 UTCDescribing that landing over the parking deck reminded me of two stories. There was a municipal airport near Pontiac, Mi. In the 70s there was a two story high school about a mile from the airport. Little cubs that misjudged the landing would bounce off the top of the school to buy some altitude. In the 80s, I used to fly from Charlotte, NC to Detroit all the time. We'd have to connect through ATL. The landing path was right over a huge warehouse... I'd see skid marks on the roof and always think back to that school building.
