Jess and Pamela’s uneasy partnership continues as they’re sent to make contact with a new player in the network — Mason Crane, a wealthy and dangerous man. This chapter really pushes Jess and Pamela’s dynamic further, the friction between them flaring into moments of tension and...strange connection. Pamela, in particular, has some standout scenes. This chapter also sets the stage for what’s to come: Mason’s deal puts Veronica herself in his crosshairs, forcing her into a job she can’t just delegate.

I’ll be publishing Chapter 5 shortly after this one (on the last day of August). That chapter will bring the whole group together at Kaylee’s contest, so if you’re following the threads laid down in Chapter 3 with Marcia and Kaylee, you won’t want to miss it.
