RED PASSION, part 4

“Is there a problem, girl?” she spat straight out, without pausing to think for a single second. Priscilla wasn’t sure where the outburst came from—perhaps it was the tension in the room, her own desperation to get a job that would save her from her miseries, or the attempted intrusion of the other woman’s peach fragrance, but Priscilla’s unconscious mind felt it necessary to mark her territory.

“You tell me, babe,” the other beauty replied, her voice as tense as her gaze. “Do we have a problem?”

Narrowing her stare, Priscilla studied that attractive green-eyed, freckled-nosed, thick-lipped face closely, and sensed that there was a serious threat to her—another pretty redhead with her very same facial features was auditioning on that decisive morning.

“Maybe,” Priscilla said while, in front of her, the look-alike aspirant’s eyes were moving up and down, obviously scanning and analyzing her face in return.

“Please, your IDs,” the man at the window interrupted in a tired voice.

Priscilla pulled her driver’s license out of her handbag, and from the corner of her eye saw the other woman taking hers out of a small red handbag. With both beauties offering their IDs to the man, neither could help but glance at the other’s photo.

“Don’t worry, almost no one looks good in that type of photo,” the other redhead hissed in contempt.

“You say that because of your own photo, I guess,” Priscilla countered back, even knowing that they were both lying: they both looked amazing in the license photo.

“Okay…” the man cut in again. “Jeanne Rouge, Priscilla Vermelha, here you have your IDs and these forms, one for each of you, that you have to fill in.” He reached out his hand. “That’ll be $200 each, please. Card or cash?”

So Jeanne… Priscilla memorized the name, reaching into her handbag as she took another good look at those eyes that kept returning her gaze. At the same time, they both got out their money, and Priscilla noticed that, like hers, Jeanne’s wad consisted only of $5, $10, and $20 bills.

“What’s up, my dear?” she could not help but to make another cutting remark. “Do you get paid this badly on the street or what?”

“Says the girl with those dirty cheap bills,” Jeanne responded. “I guess men pay what you’re worth, and that’s all.”

With a loud gasp of frustration, as if he was sick and tired of constantly suffering that kind of situation, dealing with so many beautiful young women on the warpath, the man almost tore the bills from their hands.

“Hold on, I’m going to give you your payment receipt,” he said.

“You’re throwing money away, love,” Jeanne went on the attack with an arrogant smile lighting up her face. “No way they’re going to hire two redheads.”

“You’re right, honey, they won’t,” Priscilla retorted with a mocking tone. “As soon as they see us together, they’ll know I’m the right choice.”

“Please, ladies,” the man almost growled as he handed them their receipts. “Leave the window free. If you wish, there are seats at the back of the room where you can fill in your forms. Wait to be called.”

Priscilla shot a defiant glance at Jeanne, turning away from the window to go to the chairs in the back, but then Jeanne grabbed her arm.

“No,” she said sharply. “Better this way, sweetheart.”

Before she knew what was happening, the redhead found herself being dragged by the other redhead back into the mass of angry candidates, and her heart began to pound in anticipation of what might happen.

TOMORROW:

DISCUSSION TOPIC: What do you think is the sexiest place for a women's fight?

INSPIRATION: PICHANA YOOSUK

Comments

Yep, that's the one I'm thinking about. Never got finished, and with an even greater prequel in "Bring it on"

Yeah, I seem to remember that the story that inspired me for this was called Amber's Summer or something like that, an unfinished but fantastic story!

Red Passion for me. I like where this is going, and I might know the inspiration for this particular story
