[Perpetual Change] Weekly Report #42

It's time to begin a month of polishing on the game!

I started by finishing a graphic asset for Chapter 4 : Karlton's googles.

Then, I spent some time on minor bugs corrections from previous chapters. There's a lot of little bugs that may have been unnoticed, it's sometimes hard to track them down and I can't explain or repair some of them (random crashes due to menu features for example).

I'll probably need the help of a programmer who knows how to use ruby at some point to correct some of them.

I had a lot of feedbacks from previous chapters telling me that the potty system was too fast, so I extend it a little. There was 2 minutes between each accidents previously and I extend it to 3 minutes in most of the cases.

On the same topic : Fiona's house made her apparition on previous chapters, which need some new dialogues.

The more important dialogue is obviously for chapter 3, when Fiona is on your team.

Speaking of Fiona, I tought it would be cool to integrate a relationship variable into the game, as there is many things you can do in chapter 3 affecting her (the sidequest with her, the choices when you confront Ronald between "Save yourself" and "Save Fiona").

We already have a maturity variable and I don't want this to affect the game too heavily (it would be a nightmare to have different dialogues depending on maturity x the status of your relationship with Fiona).

BUT! It's something we can take in consideration for the last chapter of the game, when Fiona have to make some decisive choices. I think we can go for three different relationship status : bad, neutral  and good.

Next, I worked on a new location and npcs. Don't worry! This bustset is just a placeholder! Nothing this ugly will be feature in the actual game.

This new place is a shop you're going to be able to visit during all the chapters. There is three new npcs with a good bunch of dialogues for each day.

This location and npcs are actually the wish of someone who made a big donation to the game. It's a kind of thank you. For the player, it will be interesting, especially in chapter 2 since the manager have a secret kink...

And that was all for today! 

Next week, I'll continue working on this new shop and probably start drawing the bustset of this new character!

It would be possible but I prefer not, the player can see which choice increase the immaturity after doing the choice. There's a little thrill at making a choice and not knowing exactly what's the "right" one. That shouldn't be too obvious for the player. ;)

Not sure if this has ever been a suggestion, or if you can even integrate it this late in the game, but I always thought it'd be better if you had a marker between each choice saying, "This choice will decrease maturity" and "This one wont." Often times I pick the one I think is the immature or mature choice, but its not the one the game thinks is. Just a suggestion! :)
