THE HOLE, part 2

Behind her soft white curtains, Hailey was part of the stalking, predatory mass of eyes at that time, but there was no prey in the hole. The truth was that fewer and fewer neighbors were coming down to that oppressive small pool, preferring to use an outdoor public pool that was three blocks away to the north. Hailey herself had been there on a couple of occasions, but to her own surprise she found the hole better suited to her own needs. On the one hand, being in the spotlight had always been a fundamental part of her ego, even long before she started thinking about becoming a movie star. Knowing that more than half a hundred neighbors were watching her in all her tight, wet spandex glory was delightful and a deep source of satisfaction. On the other hand, the hole gave her the opportunity to fully relax and enjoy a refreshing bath in complete silence and calm, and all alone, away from the screams of nagging parents and the annoying splashing of naughty children. It was no less certain that the hole intensified every sound, and any gasp of relief as the beautiful blonde stepped into the cool water after a hot day or even the wet splash of her hands caressing her own soft skin echoed off the walls of the place louder than expected, but even that was part of what Hailey found pleasing in the hole.

Not everything was so satisfying about the confined, cramped place, however, for that had become not only her quasi-private place of de-stressing, but Alexa Carter’s as well. The hole was the only place Hailey had actually seen her—and not infrequently—so she had never seen the other blonde in anything other than one of her tight one-piece spandex swimsuits. It wasn’t hard for Hailey to imagine how good Alexa must really look in a top and jeans, or in a dress, given the gorgeous body that the other 20-year-old girl had, but knowing that Alexa had probably only seen her in a swimsuit as well, she couldn’t deny that spandex had become something of a common denominator for both young women.

That nexus made of elastic synthetic fiber had in fact triggered the non-contact relationship between Hailey and Alexa to take on a more competitive tone, especially when one of them appeared in the hole wearing a new spandex swimsuit. Without knowing who had started it, the blue-eyed waitress soon found herself shopping for the same swimsuit she had seen Alexa wearing for the first time the day before—color, brand and design. The other blonde did the same, copying spandex swimsuit after spandex swimsuit, in a game that never seemed to stop intensifying, so Hailey had to admit that both were contributing heavily to the escalating comparisons the neighbors had to be making regarding the most spectacular beauties of the apartment block.

She’s got to have a thing for spandex, just like me, Hailey thought, still staring at the hole as if Alexa was going to show up in one of her swimsuits at any moment down there. There is no other explanation.

That supposed shared fetish was one of the information she had been slowly gathering about the other girl. From the neighbors, she had found out that Alexa worked as a secretary in some offices in the commercial area of town, that she was her age, and that she had also recently broken up with her boyfriend. Hailey had discovered the rest with her own eyes: Alexa seemed to measure and weigh the same as she did, with both sharing the same body build. Spying intently from her window, she had estimated that the other woman had curves remarkably similar in size and shape to hers, with Alexa’s very constricting spandex exhibiting without ambiguity the volume of her pair of breasts, the toning of her belly and the firmness of her buttocks. Still, Hailey was sure she had a better body than Alexa, if only by the smallest of margins.
