I've really tried to show her contempt for her son. The last insult, "weak as water" is a tribute to one of my favorite old shows. The British comedy Are You Being Served. Mrs Slocombe always used that insult. It was a great classic comedy from the late seventies and early eighties. I was exposed to it in sindication in the US much later on PBS.
