71. Saving Fossa. Ron Vs. Snow Leopard.

[Grand Line, New World, Beehive Island…]

Hearing this, Snow Leopard smiled coldly.

The frost on the blade in his hand thickened, and the surrounding temperature dropped rapidly.

With a cold expression, he said, "Give up, Fossa. You are not my opponent. You were no match for me back then, and even after being one of the Division Commanders for so many years, you still can't do anything to me."

Having said this, the snow leopard raised his left hand and launched a sudden attack. "Freezing Ray!"

In an instant, an icy blue beam of light rapidly advanced towards Fossa's body. This freezing ray of light was extremely fast and fell on Fossa's body almost instantly.

Fossa opened his mouth to retort, however, he didn’t expect Snow Leopard to suddenly attack.

He hastily mobilized Armament Haki to cover his body in an attempt to block the attack of the freezing ray of light.

However, the icy beam of light was faster than even the speed of sound. It completely froze him in place almost instantly.

Armament Haki had no time to cover and protect him.

"You are done for!" Seeing this scene, the corners of Snow Leopard's mouth rose.

When he thought of this, the anger slowly turned into rage. Snow Leopard gritted his teeth and looked at Ron, saying, "Damn it!! Who are you? How dare you interrupt my battle? I will kill you!

"Freeze Ray!"

As he spoke, Snow Leopard raised his hand, and once again launched an icy blue beam of light toward Ron and Fossa.

The flames took the shape of an eastern dragon midway and clashed head-on with the ice-blue beam of light.

A big explosion occurred as the two attacks collided and mist filled the air. The surrounding frost also began to melt rapidly because of the elevated temperature of the area.

Without waiting for the mist to clear up, Ron used Flash Steps and disappeared from his place.

He was able to lock onto Snow Leopard’s position with his newly unlocked Observation Haki, although the same couldn’t be said for his opponent.

Being filled with rage, Snow Leopard wasn’t calm enough to utilize his Intermediate level Observation Haki and so he wasn’t aware of Ron suddenly appearing so close to him.

‘Sword Draw!’

Calling out in his mind, Ron unsheathed the Grade Sword from his waist and attacked Snow Leopard.

"Not good!"

Though not being able to utilize the Color of Observation at the moment, Snow Leopard’s instincts, sharpened through countless battles, did sense the impending danger.

He hastily raised his long sword in an attempt to defend himself.

To match his opponent’s superior strength, Ron had amplified his strength three times just before their swords met.

Clang—!!

Sparks flew as the two swords collided together, and the ensuing shockwave was strong enough to completely blow away the dense mist produced by the melting frost.

Snow Leopard’s hastily enacted defense crumbled after a moment and he was pushed back with his feet scraping the ground.

However, Ron didn't look very happy with the outcome.

Although he launched a surprise attack, and even after amplifying his strength three times, he was unable to injure his opponent.

This showed that defeating Snow Leopard would be very difficult.

At the same time, Snow Leopard also noticed that Ron was weaker than him. He only got pushed back because he was caught off guard.

He forced himself to calm down before taunting Ron with a disdainful expression, “Which such meager strength, you dare to fight with me? You may as well serve yourself on a chopping board.”

As he spoke, he successfully deployed his Observation Haki and tried to gauge Ron’s strength.

With his Color of Observation at Intermediate Level, he was quite proficient in using Presence Sensing and Strength Sensing techniques.

Thinking of this, Snow Leopard gained a boost in his confidence and he sprinted forward.

Reaching before Ron, he attacked with an overhead slash with the intent of either breaking Ron’s sword or cutting off his left hand.

In response, Ron took a step back and swung his sword diagonally up from his right side. Simultaneously, he also amplified his strength by five times.

Clang——!!

Their swords met and this time, Ron was one to be pushed back.

‘Did he spend too much energy fighting Commander Fossa? His attack wasn’t as powerful as I imagined it to be.’ Ron speculated in his mind while sheathing his Grade Sword.

Although the Grade Sword was good, in the current fight, his inexperience with a sword would only hinder him.

After all, he only had one day of swordsmanship training under him.

Ron decided it was for the better if he fought with his hands and with his Armament Haki unlocked, he wouldn’t have to worry about his opponent’s sword injuring his hands.

After all, Snow Leopard didn't know how to use Armament Haki.

With this thought in mind, Ron coated both of his hands with Armament Haki.

In an instant, a layer of black metallic luster covered his hands and he looked at Snow Leopard with eyes full of fighting spirit.
