AB - Ep 8 Sneak Preview + Behind The Scenes
Added 2018-10-20 16:53:21 +0000 UTCSpent almost 3 hours figuring out a colour palette for this scene and I'm pleased with the results (I ended up with two palettes!)! It's a huge load off my chest because new colour palettes are one of the toughest things to figure out, for me.
The first palette I came up with was image 1. The overall colour scheme of AB has always been in hues of whites, pinks and reds, so I guess it looks okay-ish. It feels pretty whimsical and fairytale-like. BUT I also feel like it's a little too...girly?
What I really wanted was something more masculine and military-like. The premise of AB is pretty mushy to begin with, so I wanted this scene to look a little grittier before everything completely devolves into a mush fest 😂 (Ironically, I am actually a very unromantic person IRL 😂😂). SO I did another tweak and came up with image 2. Which I actually like a lot more!
I THINK I'll be using image 2, but I'm undecided yet. What do you guys think?
Also I think I might actually paint this episode in the MPL cell shading style. It's much faster andmore systematic than the watercolour style, because I rely heavily on 'happy accidents' when using the watercolour style. We'll see!

Have you ever seen purple mountains in the horizon? Reminded me of those. The color palette and the art style were what drew me in but definitely Yuwa and Asura are making me stay. I’ve re-read all the chapters so many times it wouldn’t be fair not to pay for your work. thanks and keep it up! both Poppy and AB are great!
