I had a bit of extra time today and after receiving feedback from readers about Tora's facial proportion, I decided to fix one panel to see how he looks, and I think I like it better! What do you guys think? (Though the difference is so minute that you might not notice it!)
When I work on Tora, I envision a very masculine-looking guy with a beautiful, androgynous face (because that's how his personality is, as well). I try to achieve that by giving him an angular, almost harsh face-shape with sharp cheekbones and a strong jawline, coupled with strong but feminine features. Even though this is a manga-style comic, I figured since my style is leaning towards a more realistic one, I have some leeway to make him look less 'anime' looking.
It's a lot of work to fix all the other panels so I won't do that, but I'll probably keep to this proportion. I stare at this damn thing all day every day, and I become numb to its flaws, so feedback is very important to me at times.
If you're a fellow artist and/or just interested to know, I made his face shorter, and closed up the distance from nose-mouth and mouth-chin.
