2026-03-08 00:20:43 +0000 UTCPlease save voice, Tex. I hope your preparations and notice are going well. I was curious about some of the logistics behind your move if you're willing to share. It sounds like you and I are in a similar boat medically, in that we need a lot of constant upkeep from various specialists. When I thought of moving, I was told a new pain management doctor or neurosurgeon would take over six months to see me, such is their backlog on new patients. Have you found this to be the case? That's why I stayed. I'd run out of the meds I need to function long before anyone would be able to continue my care. With you and Mike moving, what's going to happen to BPL HQ? Are other members going to move in to take your places? I imagine decentralizing such an operation would be too inefficient. At least you will finally be free of Mr. Train. Did you ever give him that surprise you'd mentioned awhile back? I hope he liked it. Finally, what about your "paperweights?" Don't the crew-served ones have to stay with you, as opposed to storing them? I don't know how it works once you get into Class 3+. Fingers crossed that you're headed to a friendly state where they can run free and sing the songs of our people. Best of luck in the weeks ahead!

2026-03-07 16:30:27 +0000 UTCCongratulations on the new job & I for one believe that you certainly don’t owe us any updates on here while you relocate. Take a couple weeks to take care of yourself. Have safe travels & we’ll look forward to hearing from you whenever you get settled in at your new redacted location. Cheers! 🍻

2026-03-07 15:16:34 +0000 UTCTex, Save voice as needed. I hope the move and new job, or at least progress toward them, are going well. It is an undeniably difficult time for most people right now, but I know that you and your people are all diligent and resilient, so I am sure you will succeed. Another table top question this week. Having been playing various games for a good portion of your life, I imagine you have run across the "it has stats, that means I can kill it" mentality. What have you found to be the best way to address that? As a GM, I always like to give my players some chance of success, no matter how slim. However, I also believe in making things challenging and threatening when they are meant to be, and extremely difficult when appropriate. I try to never tell my players "you fail no matter what you try", but I also want them to feel the weight of going up against incredibly powerful things, especially when they do so deliberately. I appreciate the history lesson we got in the first Ultimate Admiral Dreadnaughts video. I try to maintain an interest in the real history of locations and events all over the world and throughout history, so this was a nice insight into what was taking place in those locations during that time. While I have no desire to add pressure to you and your team for content than is planned, please know that between this and the Dr. Christmas video, you have given me cause to thoroughly look forward to anything you ever plan to do with regards to any further coverage of real life history. Thank you as always for everything you and your team do. I remain confident that the Traveller documentary will be well worth the wait. Good art takes time.

2026-03-07 13:18:49 +0000 UTCNo coffee, fine, but will you at least accept good vibes? Good luck with the move and the new gig, hopefully it turns out to be better for you than the last switch which sounded like it was just more/equal stress for less pay. As for SS14; I've considered it! Got a bunch of stuff on my plate lately though. You know how it is.

2026-03-07 09:10:24 +0000 UTCHi Tex, please save voice. Aw man, Mike moving, you moving.. man, it's been a minute with you, Mike and Goat under one roof... so now I'm wondering.. what will you do with the MREs? But seriously, all the best to you guys - I hope your next port of call will find you plenty further away from a Mr. Train and closer to a better work-life schedule. Haven't caught up with the videos yet - even had to catch up the last 2 updates here as some issues at work have somewhat decided to take priority this past month, but definitely looking forward to bingeing on UAD when I can. Had something in mind to ask, but forgot while typing - guess it wasn't important. Maybe next week. Either way, take care out there. ShitsOnfireYo.jpg

2026-03-06 23:08:46 +0000 UTCG’Day Tex Save voice as needed Your discussion on typewriters reminded me of a pet peeve, the QWERTY keyboard The keyboard design was rumoured to be this way as to prevent the type leavers from striking each other so as to slow down the typist, but other sources have stated that it was designed as it was to place the common letter close together Whichever reason this has introduced an issue with usage. For those who type slow, with two fingers and the like are generally fine, no major issues. Those who are well trained an and at the higher end of the speed side also are accurate with their input. The issue is the, very large, middle ground. People here are not as accurate in their keystrokes and will make a lot of spelling mistakes. I count myself in this category, and the vast majority of my students too. I was of the generation that was taught keyboarding in high school with electronic typewriters, where mistakes could not be spell checked away so I tended slower to prevent them but that lead to me not properly learning my finger placement I personally should probably learn DVORAK instead, but this is not a common or easy layout to acquire. Anyway, keep on keeping on.

2026-03-05 16:32:14 +0000 UTCHey, Tex! I recently stumbled across my new favorite terrible tank design: the Jacquet Assault Train (or as I like to call it, "The Very Angry Caterpillar"). My favorite things about it are that it's actually three small tanks tethered together like a bendy bus and that the main gun would be practically useless because it's permanently fixed in a rear facing position, so the only way to shoot it at a target in front of the tank would be to awkwardly turn the entire monstrosity of a vehicle 180° and then awkwardly aim the gun by moving the entire rear third of the vehicle (assuming the target hadn't already meandered out of line of sight). Do you have any thoughts on this absolutely incredible machine?

2026-03-03 21:01:36 +0000 UTCAs someone who really only cares about the Battletech part of your output, I'm very pleased to see you branching out into so many different projects that aren't Battletech. Firstly because it makes it feel like less of a samey production line for you and your team. Secondly because it means that people, who haven't previously seen Battletech, will be given a window into a world they didn't know existed.
