MONOGRAM Queen of Hearts

Beauties, my original plan was to release the Monogram deck in November to shorten the waiting time for the next Kickstarter project. But unfortunately, my stubborn perfectionism got in the way again. As you know, I pay a lot of attention to the details, and I didn't want to sell a half-assed project asap just to sell something. Quality always comes before quantity.

I'm still working on the details of the face cards, but even if it was finished now and I put it into print, the higher shipping costs at Christmas would put a crimp in my plans and I wouldn't be able to send it to the warehouse until next year. That's why I'm not stressing about it, but I also want to show you that I'm not idle.

In the new version of the Queen of Hearts, the hair no longer covers half of her eye. This makes the whole card look much friendlier and more vivid.

Originally I wanted to redraw the whole head - see image below - but I wasn't really happy with the angle and some other details, so I just took the drawing of the eye to fill in the missing half.

I am pretty sure that I will continue to work on the hair drawing in the future. I like it because the face stands out so much more and I drew it the way I imagined it, but somehow I know there must be a better version that I just haven't thought of yet.

Speaking of perfectionism - Look at the phone, I added a MagSafe circle and a reflection on the pear. I'm pretty sure the last detail isn't even visible in print but at least I know it's there. Inspired by a vintage QH, I also colored a few more details in red.

At first I also wanted to use gold foil on the court cards, but decided against it. I think it's good for the deck if you don't overdo it with the gold foil. Also, this is the first time I'm printing with hot foil on cards and there's a lot more room for error with smaller details on the court cards.

Last but not least, I want to thank you for your continued support. Missing out on sales of the deck this month means losing essential income needed to cover my ongoing expenses. I'm a better artist than a businessman, and I want you to know none of this would be possible without you!
