After the 3rd and 4th Orbit deck where Chris more or less just changed the color of the tuck box I thought that can't be the long term goal. Without having the original tuck box file, I redesigned the whole tuck for the 5th edition just by looking at previous Orbit decks. I got the right sizes with a ruler and I’ve changed one little detail on the tuck box that I never liked at all. If you look at the back of the box of the 5th edition you can see that it is the first deck where the back behind the card design isn’t just completely white.

I asked Chris if he is ok with it, that I write my name on the tuck box. The 4th Orbit deck got an incredible feedback but I received nearly no credits at all. In all my modesty I wrote “illustrated by Daniel Schneider” on all tuck boxes since then. I knew it’s not my deck and for me it simply sounded presumptuous and outrageous to say that I’ve designed everything – even though I did.

However, back then I simply thought “illustrated by” is the better description. But over the years, this wording bothered me more and more. Simply because people tried to play down my whole work for the Orbit deck that I’ve done over so many years already. 100K Orbit decks sold with my work but I would be only the illustrator and everybody could do that etc. If that's the case, why nobody else sells 100K decks? This insolent way of belittling everything from above - they can all f themselves with a cactus. The Orbit designs are the most copied designs in the world of custom playing cards – that’s a whole other topic where I can’t really talk about without stepping on someone’s toes. But you must be blind if you don’t see and appreciate my creative input.

My simple answer is “designed by Daniel Schneider”.
