Plans for Damsels 0.17, and other things

So, I already have a number of things I want to get done for Damsels 0.17, and have been working on that this morning. The next version of Damsels will include a new front-row character class, the Paladin. The new rendering computer makes it much easier to make all the renders needed for a character class while still making progress on the game coding.

Other things I'm working on -- Some small improvements to help you keep track of who has a quest to do, and how far along you are on Azielle's quest.

I'm hoping to add code and renders that support showing a slightly different picture in combat when a girl is tanking, in stealth, has the nimble bonus, etc.

There will be some new encounters too. Damsels continues to be my primary focus. Expected release date will be two weeks from the last release, as usual -- July 2.

Lucretia's Legacy 1.0 will be released by the end of the month, with some minor changes from the last version.  Work on that is pretty much done, but I want to give it another pass and some outside playtesting before I release it.

There's been some progress on Game 4. I hope to have a demo -- not an actual game, but a few scenes and a good look at the UI -- out in July. I've done renders and dialog for the introduction, and for the first meeting with one of the girls. I'm feeling a wee bit perfectionist with it, which is slowing things down, and I'm also trying to gauge what's sustainable for me in terms of renders per scene/game action, and that sort of thing. I'm slowly acquiring assets that are appropriate for a contemporary setting. Hopefully at some point I'll come up with a name for the game. :)

Comments

Hi Blue. Thank you for the input. It comes at a good time -- I've done some programming and rendering for Game 4, and realize that I need to step back and work out clearly where I'm going with it and what I hope to accomplish. Game 4 will be a combination of somewhat more complex mechanics (than LL or BI) and more complex narrative. I appreciate your comments about the protagonist as well. I've intentionally made the protagonist a bit of a tabula rasa in the past, so that the player could project their own personality into it, but that does limit the sort of stories that can be told. It's a balance, I think. Anyway, thank you for highlighting that -- food for thought. And thank you for the encouraging words!

Hey there. Fellow creator here. I really love Bondage Island and I enjoyed Lucretia's Legacy quite a bit. You clearly have lots of real world BDSM experience, and as a fellow dungeon-goer I feel it shows through in your writing. In regards to Game 4, I have the following thoughts. I understand you are the creator, and as a fan (and a non-paying fan at that) I am not entitled to you making games for me, but I also feel it's valuable to provide feedback in terms of what I'd like to see. First off, I found myself not appreciating the approach of Damsels and Dungeons, with it's lack of emphasis on charachter. At the end of the day, it's very hard to make generic girls engaging and I found the D&D interactions lacking as a result. I much prefered the distinct charachters of Lucretia's Legacy. Second, I really am looking for more of an emphasis on conflict. My favorite segments of LL were with the girls who were fairly opposed ideologically to you who you got to seduce anyway. I enjoyed that it wasn't rape. It was a matter of bending them to your perspective and seduction. Third, I really would like to see your expertise with BDSM and your experimental drive applied to a more complex narrative. We've seen you try more complex mechanics with D&D and we've seen you try a more complex narrative with LL, but I really want to see the next step in that. Especially important is I want to play a game where the protaganist is a real charachter. Someone distinct and with personalities and flaws. Those are all just some thoughts and feelings. Regardless, I look forward to what you plan to create next!

Worse things happen at sea. With said peeling of the old peepers I came across a couple of old acquaintances, so to speak... You probably know the 3 pages of Fantasy etc. results for Gen 8 by heart now :-)
