NEW VIDEO: Who Is Responsible For Climate Change? – Who Needs To Fix It?

Since the Industrial Revolution, humans have released over 1.5 trillion tonnes of carbon dioxide or CO2 into the earth's atmosphere.  In the year 2019  we were still pumping out  around 37 billion more.  That’s 50% more than the year 2000 and almost three times as much as 50 years ago. And it’s not just CO2. We’re also pumping out growing volumes  of  other greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide. Combining all of our greenhouse gases, we’re emitting 51 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents each year.  And emissions keep rising – but they need to get down to 0!

I'd be curious about how much a countries CO2 output is skewed by outsourcing. Ie (Probably the most obvious example) how much of China's emissions are from American outsourcing?

It will come out on ~8th August if you just subscribed (like I!), they need the money guaranteed to make this stuff! Bc you are billed on 1st of every month

How do i get my bird icon?

I know, that this is not the most efficient way to heat your houses / office but do you think about rendering the videos in 4K in the future? ;-)

Hay, just letting you know I sent you guys a message and I’m still waiting for a response.

Hey guys would you ever consider doing a video on narcissism because I think it’s important

Australia's climate policy is fucking terrible and I wish you'd ripped into us harder, even if just to provide an example of what not to do. Western and South Australia, and Tasmania are on the right track but everyone else is still building coal and gas fired power plants like dipshits. "Muh coal industry" "jObS anD gRoWtH" We can't even sell our coal to China at a profit anymore, but we keep digging the shit up.

Can you highlight the corporates that contribute most in carbon footprint worldwide? If the data is available of course.

You may try to discuss what each person can actively do to bring the emissions down. It's easy to blame governments but in the end each individual can contribute actively by choosing what to buy and how willing we are to make little sacrifices here and there for the common effort. A lot of people do seem to realize that but are unfortunately still unwilling to take action

Thorben Menne

Less consumption by individuals doesn't work. We have to force the hands of corporations and re-design our cities.

Roger C Walker

came to mention that too.

Alipasha Sadri

A lot of how we reduce consumption will have to do with how effectively we build our cities. If we make them friendlier to modes of transportation other than everybody being required to have a car, the average person's carbon footprint goes down dramatically.

Matt

If avoiding climate catastrophe depends mostly on individual sacrifice, we're quite doomed. Even amongst Americans sympathetic to the cause, most live from one paycheck to the next which makes any expense for the greater good untenable. To be effective, the cost of any product or service must include the cost of responsible waste management. I.e. protecting the environment can no longer be optional altruism, it must be required from every participant in the economy.

Great video, and I would say that everyone on this Patreon has the responsibility to think critically about what kind of lifestyle-based emissions we can personally eliminate... and then to follow through! Unfortunately most people have the misconception that clean energy alternatives are the solution, and they kick back and wait for engineers and scientists to make batteries slightly more efficient. But this is unrealistic, wishful thinking. The ONLY solution is LESS CONSUMPTION. This talk was really enlightening to me as to why the carbon problem is so hard to solve: https://youtu.be/gkj_91IJVBk

So true! I’ve just witnessed a company buying products that they could make with their own machinery from china instead, and just putting the electronics in. They said it was more costeffective to do so. This is perverse! Planet and poor people are paying a hefty price for everything we want built. I‘m up for a change, let‘s bring our industry back and do it right, or all we’d pass on to the next generation is consumerism and dependance on slave-like labour

Richard Külling

Carbon-Tax would be even more effective!

William Grunow

🤗

One thing that doesn't get talked about enough is that much of the West has lost most of its manufacturing capacity, and we outsource it to the developing world, especially China. A _lot_ of China's emissions aren't really theirs: they're emissions created by Chinese industry making cars, computers, furniture, appliances, and even board games for other countries. I feel that Europe, America, UK, Australia, etc. need to take ownership of a large share of these emissions, since they're ours by proxy.

James Dominguez

At 4:08, the wrong flag for India is shown. Looks like the Iranian one. Great video otherwise.

I think we need carbon-footprints on our labels

Richard Külling

At 7:13 you highlighted the country Niger, did you really mean to do that or did you mean to highlight the country Nigeria. It is a bit confusing that both countries have the demonym Nigerian.

Let’s go a new video!

Mr. Sir
