I fucking wept when I listened to this episode. It was powerful.

He died in 2018. Was there a line waiting to piss on his grave?

I have to listen to this again before commenting!

100% agree

I was hoping I'd hear something about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire at some point during these episodes. I know it's an old one, but it made a great lead-in for this story.

So I was listening to this episode on apple podcast and I just wanted to let you know a random add popped into the middle of the playlist that was for gambling for draftkings. I don’t know if you have control the adds that pop on to Apple Podcasts but I wanted to let you know. It was really jarring for me to hear that advertisement.

Really appreciated how you put us into the headspace of someone who worked there. Amazing job. Balloon Boy was really fun, so I felt we had a rough one coming up.

Gray L

Same!

I can't be bothered to check how to activate my subscription in the podcast app I use - and I highly recommend that, the adds are way too cool to miss them

This is what happens when the party of "We don't need no stinking regulations and let rich people be as greedy as they wanna be" is allowed free reign.

I sooo love ACC's account of this tragedy! He recounts with such detail and depth the torture people experienced that you feel you were there! ACC is one of the very few communicators who understands empathy he and knows how to communicate it.

Incredible episode. I had egg-spectations about where this was headed and it was absolutely worse. I was musing to myself "are they thinking that people are going to steal, what, rancid chicken?" and sure enough, there was the age-old corporate bullshit of "yep". Continual traumatization on top of it as well. This episode had everything (yes, even the chicken puns).

Alan

Thank you, ACC. That was deeply upsetting.

Minda Haas Kuhlmann

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. That's an oldie but goodie. Thanks for delvling into it, ACC.

Michelle Hebert

So often when corporate types talk about "cutting red tape" what they mean is getting rid of safety measures that prevent people from burning to death or getting crushed in the panic, whether in poultry plants or nightclubs. Union forever.

Alannah Small

I was worried this was a food contamination episode, wasn’t ready for that.

Stephanie Johnson

Native North Carolinian here. I’d never heard of this tragedy. Thank you so much for educating me on this!
