Sketchy Business
Hey all,

Fable and I have been doing a ton of new character design work for Season 1, since we're introducing more characters (even some new ones not in the comic) than we originally thought. More sets too. I'll drop some of those concepts in here soon, but in the meantime, here's one I don't think I shared before outside of livestreams - Mitzi from the traveling band days.
This is for one of the planned mini-episodes. It was fun to do some costume design more representative of a different decad...

Some of the livestream request sketches of late that I've been promising to post!
Features art by Fable Siegel, Kare Valgon, Phui Jing Ling, Katie Francis, RitoBandito, and me.
It's always Carnival season for Nicodeme Savoy. Get out there and catch a chicken.

Freckle head turns Fable created for animator reference.
Included the old Rocky-in-a-microwave animation for fun as well. (It was for the same purpose.)
I shared Rocky's poem "Solid Ground" a short while ago and mentioned a recorded version. Here it is, with the storyboard animatic attached!
This has all since been replaced by a very different sequence, as stated before, but we put a fair bit of work into it before reworking the episode, so I thought I'd share!

Fable and I are live here on Twitch this evening chatting and doing some design touchups for production.
Anyone is free to join!
Happy New Year, all! What a year it was, in ways both wonderful and terrible.
This is a poem I had written for the original 5-episode Season 1 of Lackadaisy. We've since cut this from the script and replaced it with a different poem, but...rather than let it simply evaporate, I figured I'd share it.
We have a recorded performance of it as well, which I can probably post if that's something you'd be interested in.

Hope you all are having a lovely, magical, and not at all terrifying holiday season!

Apologies for the relative quiet this month. I feel like I just climbed back into the sunlight out of a deep, dark work hole on series production things. It's been fruitful but exhausting.
Anyway, here's a little bit of Mitzi art, and I'll have some more fun stuff to share with you all once I get a little production break for the holidays!
Some new wallpapers added to the collection, including some Lackadaisy Season 1 background art. A lot of these were requests from Patrons.
You'll find the ZIP files containing these wallpapers attached to this post. Or...
A little dub we put up on YouTube just for fun.
Way back pre-pilot when we were producing a lot of mini-comic dubs, we actually recorded for more comics than we had time to edit together. I'm still hoping we'll be able to share some of those with you.
The voices, of course, are Willow Wilde (Mitzi/Narrator) and Michael Kovach (Rocky)
Just a little art I did of Ivy recently to get ready to announce the holiday sale and the new Ivy tater plush.
Things have been so crazy and production-focused lately, it was really nice to take a moment to do a little illustration like this. Included the original pencil drawing too!
If you're celebrating this week, Happy Thanksgiving!
Recently Fable Siegel and I had the honor and pleasure of talking to Taylor Ramos and Tony Zhou (Every Frame a Painting, Voir) about the adventure of adapting Lackadaisy for animation.
They are creators themselves, wonderfully analytical about filmmaking, and great interviewers! If you're a cinephile and you haven't watched the video essays on Every Frame a Painting (Y...

Some art for the Card Game, coming up soon!
(Backers, your games should be shipping as of this week.)
Pigs are characters too.
Some Season 1 design work.
I'll be back with more stuff shortly!
Happy Halloween, everyone!
Here's the Drawpile from the recent Patron stream. The crew and I had a blast drawing with you. We're pretty impressed with your skills too!
I thought some of you might want the chance to crop out your own drawings or things you requested, so here's the full canvas. It's quite large, so you can download the uncompressed version from this link if you like: Drawp...
Not exactly that hand tutorial, but it is a guide for drawing Lackadaisy paw-hands holding firearms. I made this for the animation team's reference. During production on the pilot, it was one of the areas that required the most revision notes, so we figured a visual guide would be useful for Season 1.
If it's useful to any of you artists out there too, all the better!
Hey all,
Sorry for the brief bit of quiet. Lots of things in transition at this moment, but I'll have some production art and the livestream schedule to share with you shortly!
Meanwhile, here's a peek at the impending Ivy tater plush!
Artwork Fable and I did for the announcement! It's so hard to set aside time for fan art these days, so it was nice to be handed a solid excuse to draw these characters! Besides Rocky, of course, it's Pomni (The Amazing Digital Circus), Mel (Gaslight District), Gwen (Knights of Guinevere), and N (Murder Drones) up top.
Included the version without the logo too.
So, hey, there's news! Also animation! Also music!
Lackadaisy is now an official GLITCH Production, with Olan Rogers (Final Space) along as an executive producer! You can watch the recent Glitch Direct video here for some explanation!
I have an ulterior motive for sharing this right now, which is to say keep an eye on YouTube later today around 12pm PT / 3pm ET!
On to the art here - they're color scripts for a couple of Episode 1 sequences that have since changed quite a lot. The thumbnails were looking pretty enough that it seemed worth sharing the initial conceptions, though. The image in the middle is a BG artist guideline for Wick's office color scheme.
Down below is a color styling guide, which instructs ...
Some thumbnail art of Mitzi - along with, uh, thumbnails for the thumbnail - that we ended up tossing in favor of a different approach. The for-real thumbnail will be coming up soon!
I don't talk about it much, but each one of these YouTube thumbs ends up being an art project unto itself.
Some Shikishi board pencil sketches from the past while.
