Our Print Plans

Our progress toward a printed Radon issue continues. Our team has decided that September's Issue #8 will be our first print issue. We found it would be too difficult to fully create a distribution plan for Issue #7 only a month out. We will also need to create new author agreements for authors to sign and a slew of nitty-gritty details to iron out.

We extensively looked into every option available to us and settled on IngramSpark for our needs. All details are still being worked out, but in the coming months, we will be updating you on how we will approach selling/offering/distributing the issue.

We do not have additional budget space to provide free copies to around 22 authors each issue. But we may aim to allow authors to buy copies at cost for a set number of weeks before returning the issue to standard price (which has not been determined yet). For patrons, we want to add some form of print option as an additional perk and so may add the ability to receive print copies to our higher tiers. Please note that all of this is in flux and these are only our initial ideas. As we solidify our plans and receive your feedback, we will let you know how the release will play out.

Website Renovation

Since being awarded a generous grant from CLMP, we have been working closely with our web developer consultant to renovate our website. We have been working secretly on a test server over the last month and are nearly ready to bring the enhancements over to the live site. When it is live we will be sure to blast the fact from the digital mountaintops and invite everyone to browse the following new features:

- Added author pages for every Radon author (which includes bios, images, links to their Radon works and interviews)
- Content warning boxes on each story and poem. They will by default be hidden and only show a reader the content warnings if they click to collapse the box.
- New homepage design featuring blurbs of Radon stories and author interviews
- +/- text size buttons for all stories and poems so that you can easily modify the text for your reading sessions.
- Plenty of behind-the-scenes work that won't be visible on the public site such as index fixes, SEO optimizations, custom code for our dynamic pages, and more.

Submissions Closed

We received a record number of submissions this past Issue. So many that we closed the submissions for Issue 7 slightly early in order to gain a handle on them. While we never close our submissions system, we publicly noted that anything submitted to us past this point would be in contention for Issue 8.
