Status Update - May 2021
Added 2021-06-02 15:58:20 +0000 UTCHey there! First of all, I apologize for the delay in publishing this writeup, but I decided to push it back to be able to release YAMP in time for June 1st.
May saw just one new release (not counting YAMP as that technically released this month), but other than that it was rather quiet, so this report will be short.
OpenRCT2
A new addition to the list! OpenRCT2 caught my attention and I randomly contributed to it a bit.
- Make FileScanner::ScanDirectory return a unique_ptr instead of a raw one - implementing one of the refactor to-do's the project had
- Startup speed optimizations and More startup speed optimizations - I found OpenRCT2's startup to be quite slow (taking over 800ms on my machine), so I looked into it and after two pull requests I managed to get the startup times to under 300ms!
SilentPatch for TOCA 2 Touring Cars
First mentioned in the last status report, I now released a SilentPatch for TOCA 2. It comes with a nice list of fixes, including high resolution support, widescreen/ultrawide support, HUD scaling fixes, and more. For more information, please refer to the release post.
Yakuza Arcade Machines Player
OK, technically it was released in June, but it was ready on the last day of May - after teasing it in the last month's progress report, YAMP is now out with support for Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown in Yakuza 6.
What's next?
Well... that was a bit underwhelming. I don't have any particular plans for this month, but it will most likely boil down to various fixes and improvements to YAMP, such as better controls and high resolution support. I usually pick up new projects without prior notice either way, so who knows what June will bring.
