Seas and Stars

Turquoise waves crash upon the sea stacks and lap at white sands, bringing debris from the nearby shipwreck ashore. A breeze sends the palm swaying and tugs at the billowing walls of the makeshift shelter. The scavenged rations run thin.

The salty breath of the sea mists upon the wooden bow of the ship. A northerly wind catches the sails, launching the vessel forward into rougher waters. Sea spray dashes across the deck as the boat rocks under darkening skies. Stairs descend below, offering a reprieve from the crashing waves and whipping winds.

Stirred from your chambers by the frantic cries of passengers and crew alike, you emerge to find the hold rapidly flooding with water. There is a palpable crack before the ship lets loose its death rattle- a low reverberating groan.

Days and nights pass by in a haze adrift the salvaged raft. At the mercy of the sun and tides, the craft continues along aimlessly. The sharks grow bolder by the day.

The sun beats down heavily upon the sandstone ruins on a small island. An obsidian obelisk rises prominently from within the courtyard, holding up much better to the years of erosion than the crumbling bricks surrounding it.

Light filters down in a shimmering dance from the surface above as you swim between the volcanic stone pillars at the mouth of a submerged ruin.

As you descend deeper into the sunken temple, a pulsing blue glow can be seen emanating from a massive brain coral set at the center of a massive stone chamber.

Hey folks! I’m quite excited for this release. I played a Dark Caribbean game with Limithron for his upcoming Mork Borg Kickstarter a few weeks back and it might have subconsciously steered me towards selecting nautical themed maps from the pool of remaining pieces I’ll be completing for this project. The base maps ($2) have been designed by Adventures Await, and several maps (Surface Ruin, Temple Entrance, Underwater Temple) are based on designs by Dyson Logos and are licensed under his collection of commercial maps.

Variant themes for this map pack include winter and space, with background maps and ship tokens for CR 5 and above tiers. Please note that the ship tokens (.PNG files) are fairly large and exceed Roll20's 5MB upload restrictions for free users. I generally strive to keep all my map files under this threshold but high resolution PNG tokens tend to hog a lot of storage when they are ship-sized.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Efreeti Brass Palace, which will be releasing early next week!

Cheers,

Zach
