Season 18 - Patreon VETO/Recommendations
Added 2023-06-05 14:59:19 +0000 UTCHello Patreons,
Thank you for your support; since you're a Patreon, you have a say in how we run things around here, and we'll be using these polls to gather opinions on our championship formats!
Please read our recommendations carefully, and if you believe any should be rejected, vote on the poll below based on the recommendation you feel should be rejected.
-------
Recommendation 1
The world challenge has had 2 grids and we've been monitoring the attendance on the second grid carefully throughout this season, whilst the attendance has been mostly fine, we believe it would benefit more from being 1 big grid as many asked for at the start of the season.
Our reasons for not doing this were due to the amount of interest in the championship (and we're above the limit at which we'd split it now, so reflecting it was the correct choice given the circumstances).
We've been discussing internally and within the feedback forum around the following recommendation:
- Increase the Licence Requirement for the GT3 World Challenge to B Class.
- Have a fixed grid size of 50 drivers
- Drivers will be awarded positions on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Patrons will have ~2 Weeks to sign up before public members.
- The world challenge server will open ~15 minutes earlier to start the practice session, this will start the qualifying when the server currently opens now.
- Qualifying will be dependent on grid size (and will be either split, or single quali dependent on such.)
As previously, any drivers who sign up won't lose their spot if their licence changes mid-season, so if you're in B Class and drop to C mid-season, you won't be removed from the championship, you just won't be able to sign up next season until you increase your licence.

Recommendation 2
Currently, the double dash overlaps with the hourlies, our proposal is to move the double dash slightly earlier in the day so that you can do the double dash, and then get involved with the daily afterwards, the double dash was originally implemented to allow rookies to gain their PitSkill/PitRep, however with the hourlies, we don't really need it anymore, but it will remain as people like the format.
The discussions internally and the following recommendations have been made:
- Move the Double Dash slightly earlier by ~30 minutes to 17:15 UTC
- Reduce the qualifying time to 10 minutes to match the hourly.
-------
Recommendation 3
Finally, one that's a much bigger change than the rest of them, the Weekend Warrior, we've been monitoring signup and attendance numbers on the weekend warrior league, and whilst the signups are high, the attendance is for want of a better word, lacking.
It's not all bad news though, as 20 drivers regularly turn up which is a good enough grid, however, the following recommendation is being voted on by you:
- Change the Weekend Warriors into a Series, this is because Weekends can be "sporadic" in nature.
- One fixed grid size of 50 drivers, first come first served EACH WEEK, basically a "C Class" equivalent of the World Challenge.
- Signups will open for the FULL series at the start of the season, so you can sign up for all rounds in one go.
- Patreons will have ~2 weeks to sign up for all rounds before public members.
- Still require the C Class licence to register.
Please vote below, remember, you are voting if you REJECT any of the recommendations we are putting to this vote, rather than if you agree with them, if you do reject a recommendation, please make sure to leave a comment as to why.
If you have any comments, please leave them below.
Remember, Pre-Signups for championships will require an ACTIVE PATREON SUBSCRIPTION when the signups go live.
Track vote
There will be a track vote for Silver+ Patreon members when pre-signups go live!

Definitely on board with recommendation 1

2023-06-05 19:59:50 +0000 UTCI wouldn't mind fighting for p30, i miss a lot of the people i used to race last season in the WC because they're now in split 2. The more the merrier in my view. Smaller tracks really isn't that big an issue, it will spread out after the first laps

2023-06-05 18:25:07 +0000 UTCThis seems like a sensible "cut off" type situation for leagues and makes people want to sign up at the start rather than mid-way through. :)

2023-06-05 16:33:39 +0000 UTCI suggest applying a maximum grid size of 35 and minimum of 23. If either of these numbers can't be met, for example if we have 40 signups, then a number of signups would have to drop out (5 in that example), based on PitSkill rankings.

2023-06-05 15:46:53 +0000 UTCas a split 2 driver im Happy with the WC being split. Some tracks dont suit big grids and for the slower guys its more fun being around their skill level and i cant imagine that its much fun for the slow guys constantly being in the 30-50 position.

2023-06-05 15:38:10 +0000 UTCRecommendation 1 is fine for me, but grid size 50 is too much. Ideal maximum is 32 IMO. Only problem in that case comes with signups between 33 and 39, as splitting with those signups is not good. With 40 or more signups I'd split

2023-06-05 15:35:47 +0000 UTCI think having the two splits gives us room to grow, which we need. Split 2 drivers have been talking in the VCs about aiming to get into Split 1 as well, so it gives something to work towards too. Minus that, I like the rest of the recommendations

2023-06-05 15:34:57 +0000 UTCRejected recommendation 1 because: - Two splits gives PitSkill room to grow, and we are growing. - Single split makes the event longer (more time for quali) and it's already long. - IMHO 30-car is the optimal number of cars to balance "interesting race" with the risk of incidents, technical issues, blue flags impacting leaders, etc. - Two splits gives a more interesting challenge to the bottom half of the grid than just trying to survive (starting P40 on a 50-car grid it's about survival more than anything else). I think what we did this season worked quite well, and with a dozen more drivers (6 more in each split) it would be perfect.

2023-06-05 15:33:33 +0000 UTCI agree, please no more then 25 cars in Quali. Although 50 cars in race on Brands Hatch, Zolder or Laguna Seca is also recipe for disaster

2023-06-05 15:15:09 +0000 UTCAll good, but for Recommendation 1 I'd add the possibility of more than 50 signups. If there are MORE than 50 signups before the season starts, then do again splits (and allow for mid season signups possibly). If there are 50 or less signups, keep one split. In any case, have split qualy with more than 30 cars in one split/division.
