The measurements in AOT are weird. The AOT worldmap is just our worldmap flipped upside down, which makes Paradis island Madagascar. Madagascar's size is about 228k square miles, but when math is done to calculate the amount of territory inside the walls of Paradis, the number is far larger than the available space on the island itself. Most estimates make the territory inside of the walls about 279k square miles of space, but like I said, that's literally bigger than the entire island, which isn't accurate. Obviously the walls are MUCH smaller than the island itself, or it wouldn't take almost a full day's travel from the gates of Shiganshina to the sea. The scouts' horses are bred to run at considerable speed (about 50mph) for sustained distances, and if it takes from sunrise to afternoon (about 6 hours give or take, since they travelled during spring) to get from Shiganshina to the wharf, they would cover roughly 300 miles. Looking at a map of Paradis, if the distance from the gates of Shiganshina to the Marleyan Wharf is 300 miles, then the diameter of the walled territory is roughly the same distance, but probably quite a bit smaller. Calculating the square mileage of a 300mi diameter circle puts the area at roughly 70k square miles of territory, about the size of Syria. But this is still logically too large. If you look at the true size of Madagascar next to Syria, Syria takes up almost half the island, which we still know is not accurate to the size of the walls. Ultimately the show itself doesn't really calculate the size of the island compared to the walls very well, because if we're going for real accuracy, the territory within the walls should be no more than 20k square miles, about the size of Croatia. A total territory the size of Croatia still isn't bad though, considering that Croatia's population is almost 4 million, compared to the original starting Paradis population of a little over 1 million. So ultimately, I would say that the size of the territory within the walls is about 20k square miles, only a little smaller than the state of West Virginia (which is still INSANELY generous when you look at the maps in the series), and the island itself is 228k square miles, only somewhat smaller than Texas.

the titan in the wall that was revealed in the first season was only one section of the wall whereas each section except the gates were inhabited by pure titans morphed into colossal titans. they then used their hardening capabilities to make the walls. just to put into perspective of how vast the wall are they're almost bigger than the east coast of the US and on some comparison maps the walls are about the size of half of Europe.
