I truly believed while watching the show that Bran was actually also the Night King. I expected Bran to go back to the moment the Night King was created and try to control him like he controlled Hodor, only to get stuck. Thus, when the battle with the dead finally occurred, it would be Jon fighting his brother to a sense, as killing the Night King would kill Bran. I think that would have brought a lot more emotion to the final season. But agreed, the final season was massively disappointing.
