Just like the second game, this show follows by now old and tired narratives of destroying the male characters just to prop up a girl boss like Abby. For decades in entertainment media there have been strong female characters. But now it seems like in the last 10 years it seems that humiliating and destroying the established male hero is the only way to prop up female heroes. This is why these games, and movies are not selling, and TV shows are getting canceled.

It's easier for a lot of people to just tell themselves they're just goofing around with a friend than to admit that there might be something more.

2025-05-01 05:24:44 +0000 UTCI have almost no idea what Mountainhead is about (the trailer shown before this TLOU episode)... is the title a play on Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead? It was written and directed by Jesse Armstrong, who is most famous for being the creator of one of the greatest HBO series of all time - Succession. So I'm guessing it's gonna have a very similarly sarcastic tone towards billionaires and how extreme greed and ambition can completely destroy entire families.
