Religion in Greyhawk has always been challenging to codify. With some deities being commonly worshipped and others being more culturally specific it becomes a mishmash of faiths and beliefs. Add to this the fact that "real world" deities are also worshipped in Greyhawk and you have an abundance of deities and a real headache for religious leaders in the setting. Imagine being the high priest of Pholtus and trying to convert everyone to your way of thinking with literally dozens, if not hundreds, of varying faiths in the world. You would almost certainly go mad from the effort. Never mind the actual opposition, just the vast number of possible alternatives makes your plan nearly impossible. It's one of the reasons I love the setting. You can use religion and religious zealots as story plots and ideas with reckless abandon. Especially since we know the Gods take an active role in the setting.
