Game of Thrones Community Update
Added 2024-11-01 04:02:08 +0000 UTCWe want to address some feedback we’ve seen recently. As many of you know, we chose to watch the Histories and Lore videos this week after several community members requested it in the Game of Thrones chat and in YouTube comments . We thought it’d be a fun way to dive deeper into the lore, especially since we’re already well into Season 3, and regular episodes will be back next week.
To everyone who took part in suggesting content in the chat: thank you for your input! The Game of Thrones chat is open to all subscribers, and everyone has the chance to contribute ideas. If you didn’t take part in that discussion but find yourself unhappy with the decision, please remember that feedback only works when it’s shared in a timely and constructive way. Complaining after the fact without joining the conversation beforehand doesn’t foster the positive community we’re all here to enjoy.
We do appreciate constructive opinions and feedback. However, excessive complaints about every decision are creating a negative atmosphere, and we want to keep this space as enjoyable and supportive as possible. Let’s remember why we’re here: to share the experience of watching, to enjoy the journey, and to support each other in respectful discussions even in the midst of differences in opinion.
Game of Thrones isn’t going anywhere, and we’re constantly listening to your suggestions. Let’s keep the conversations balanced and constructive, and focus on enjoying the ride together.
Thanks to everyone who’s here for the fun, the hot takes, the shows, and the positive vibe. We’re looking forward to what’s next and appreciate your understanding!

I think you're grossly misrepresenting what people are complaining about. No one thinks they "own the channel'. No one expects the schedule to be crafted to their exact tastes. What people want is clear communication when a change does happen. I don't think it's unhinged or unreasonable to say "Hey, would it be OK if you notified us when you make changes to the schedule, perhaps make a poll next time?" A lot of comments here have already made their points clear. I think it would be good to read them and understand why people are upset, instead of just calling everyone unhinged.

2024-11-03 21:27:48 +0000 UTCI like to think my support is a way to allow creators to create more content, with access to more platforms, post more regularly, and create higher quality work. What I don't expect is that I own the channel. When a creator I support starts watching a series of movie I don't have any interest in, I take a really radical approach: I don't watch that specific episode. Just because THIS week isn't exactly what I expected, who cares? More variety means more eyes on the channel. More eyes on the channel means more patron support. More patron support means more resources for them to make more variety. I don't complain to the CEO of every streaming service because they make shows I don't watch. I don't get angry because someone is enjoying something I don't. Would I prefer that the channels I subscribe to crafted their schedules to suit my exact personal tastes and schedule posts at my convenience? Hell yeah! But I realize that an unhinged expectation, because I'm an adult. Not every episode of every show is going to interest me, and I'm not realistically going to watch every video from Diegesis or any other react-review channels. Remember that the goal is to appeal to a wide audience, and the purpose of being here is to experience this media through the fresh eyes of two really funny and passionate entertainers. If you're only here because of the show, you can always watch that on your own time. Heck, you can even react to and review it yourself instead of yelling at someone for being a week late! Thank you to the whole Diegesis team for consistently putting out great reactions and discussions.

2024-11-03 19:16:55 +0000 UTCYeah I have absolutely no problem if there's a change in the schedule, life happens and gets in the way. Would just like to see these changes addressed on the home page instead of chats.

2024-11-03 01:54:30 +0000 UTCI watch 4 other Patreons and they all poll for things like this. At the end of the day, you make the selections for your channel but those selections can have consequences which is why the polling can help. I'm certainly not going to drop you guys for something like this but one thing to remember, we aren't just paying you. I have to pay HBO Max to follow along and too many deviations starts to add additional time purchasing HBO. I only bought it to follow along. Just food for thought. I just went ahead and rewatched the ladies and severance to get ready for season 2.

2024-11-02 03:58:55 +0000 UTC" is a strict rule that they must follow and "properly inform" us of any deviation from is kind of silly." I don't know, where I'm from we don't consider common courtesy to be "kind of silly". And yes, this thread is for feedback and shows that they are trying to listen, so its kind of reductive for other people to try and handwave away any feedback by saying "Oh you guys are just being silly, this isn't a big deal haha". It clearly is a big deal to a lot of people. I don't think its unreasonable to be disappointed to pay for early access to the videos and then get something completely different that you weren't told about. And I think its more like how when you go to the store, and the store is telling you that whats inside your package is bread, so you trust them and then buy it, only to take it home and open it and its not bread.

2024-11-01 23:01:12 +0000 UTCi get it and understand. you guys are rly smart but i feel like you guys take stuff as insult to your intelligence. like how u guys were so upset abt the inside the episode. unless there are lingering moments with facial expressions that need to be explained i never seen an inside the episode that didnt just tell u what happened in the episode and maybe some of the questions u wanted to know were for later so they didnt want to spoil u. we enjoy the series so much bc its good. we watch reactions bc we love it. with this series and the content released abt this series it is going to get repetitive. yes take in new information but sometimes the experience is simply abt enjoying the ride. like viserys sucks but i enjoy hearing him talk abt his dad like he didn’t do anything wrong its funny
Mari
2024-11-01 22:50:52 +0000 UTCWell I'm pretty sure HBO already paid him for the rights to it, but yes thank you for pointing out that my joke was not 100% factually correct. Look, I get that people are disappointed but the idea that the schedule, which they started doing for our benefit, is a strict rule that they must follow and "properly inform" us of any deviation from is kind of silly. I don't know about anybody else but I am here to support independent content creators who are doing this not for money but because they enjoy it. The very fact that this thread exists shows that they are aware of the feedback and are trying to listen but they're never going to be able to satisfy everybody 100% of the time. I would strongly encourage people who are upset about it to try and practice being okay when things don't go exactly how they expected. Even if it is something they are contributing money towards (to say nothing of the fact that GoT is just one of many shows they are doing and all the other shows had new episodes drop this week). If I buy a loaf of bread and come home from the store and find there's a huge air bubble inside, I'm not going to go back and complain that I didn't get my full $5.99 or whatever worth of bread. I'm going to say well that's kind of annoying but I'm still going to enjoy it because life is too short to worry about things like this and hopefully next week I get a slightly better loaf.

2024-11-01 22:22:48 +0000 UTCY'all (subscribers) need to chill out for real. They are humans living their life. It is not the end of the world if their schedule shifts. This is such a fun and positive page that we all obviously love to watch but let's not attack the girls or the team for an overall minor change or small oversight?? They are learning how to navigate all of this as well. Much love and positive energy your way, y'all! Cheers ❤ Let's support the fun vibes they are always working for

2024-11-01 22:00:05 +0000 UTCCorrect me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone is paying George R.R. Martin monthly to not finish his book. People are just disappointed that Diegesis didn't stick to their own schedule, and didn't properly inform people of the change. That's all.
dylan s
2024-11-01 20:57:33 +0000 UTCMy take: i was really pleased with the schedule you introduced and whenever life happens or you want to include more content that deviates from the schedule that is fine just tell us and update a schedule before hand. This channel is great because you take feedback and respond to us, some channels dont even care unless you are a $1000 patreon lol

2024-11-01 18:51:25 +0000 UTCYeah, the 7 people active in the chat don't speak for everyone.

2024-11-01 18:06:08 +0000 UTCGeorge R. R. Martin: [takes 13+ years to finish the next book] Fans: “Ah darn that’s kinda frustrating but we get it lol.” Diegesis: [takes an extra week to resume season 3] Fans: “We will take what is ours! With fire and blood we will take it!”
Jeff Moen
2024-11-01 17:37:10 +0000 UTCYeah sure, some, but most are being respectful. It always annoys me when a creator does something that causes people to have some genuine complaints, then at least one other person always tries to handwave those complaints away by labeling them as complainers or whiners or whatever. Also, Smapdi, I haven't seen anyone say anything remotely close to what you are saying.
dylan s
2024-11-01 17:04:18 +0000 UTCI think people are mostly upset there is a posted schedule and changes were made to it without updating it which was a major oversight. We are paying for early access to episodes which we are apparently not getting this week. Telling us its our fault for not being in the GOT chat is a wild take. GOT is why I resubbed to your patreon and the girls have been amazing reactors for it. But I am subbed to multiple patreons if I had to keep up with every patreons show chats to knowtheir schedule I would lose my mind.
Battlebug
2024-11-01 16:15:33 +0000 UTCGOT brings with it, very strong, emboldened opinions. But for god's sake, let's not turn this into Twitter. Try and stay positive folks. If you don't like something, just be constructive and kind. If that's tough for some people, try keeping it to "I feel" statements, and stop taking things personally.
Bryan Erickson
2024-11-01 14:58:19 +0000 UTCNobody should be name calling. I'm always respectful, but you have to admit some of the commnters here are super dramatic
Chris Bruneau
2024-11-01 14:13:45 +0000 UTCThe thing is, it's possible, easy even, for a subscriber to express their disagreement with a creative/scheduling decision, without being an entitled ass about it. It is OK to be disappointed about something not being uploaded, when you were hoping it would be. And, it is OK to voice your opinion. But, it seems like some people don't understand how profoundly sad they sound, when they immediately escalate to full-Karen, and pull the "you've just lost me as a customer" card. Do they expect to see Diegesis publicly grovel for their forgiveness? Do they think it makes them look strong and principled? Ma'am this is an internet comment section. Have some self-respect.

2024-11-01 13:58:17 +0000 UTCWhen GoT was chosen I told them it can get real ugly, real fast and that having a mod would be best for them. Not just for spoilers but in general. People on the internet are already bold in a way they aren't irl, but GoT fans are next level ridiculous when they don't get what they want exactly how they want it. It's wild. I appreciate that they want to engage but with this show, that's gonna come with a lot of strong opinions and feedback. Not just on how they choose to run their channel, but with the way they feel about the show and the extra bits in general. People act like they can't make a mistake or try something once and a while.

2024-11-01 13:26:02 +0000 UTCRight, but not communicating properly with your audience about what you're going to do is a bit like intentionally stabbing a hole in that bag of milk. Like I said earlier, my problem was that they said in the chat that they would do one lore video and one normal episode. I didn't say anything in the chat because I was fine with that and everyone else was already saying yes. But then they didn't do that, which left me and some other people feeling blindsided. And my whole point about the schedule thing in my second comment is that they often say that they are feeling exhausted, and are struggling to keep up because they have other commitments outside of this. Which, again, is fair enough and no one is faulting them for it, but they are the ones who made their schedule, you know what I mean? We're all grateful for the amount of content they put out, but I'm sure the vast majority of people in this Patreon would understand and even encourage them to take breaks now and then or even cut back on the amount of filming that they have to do so they aren't exhausted and stressing out.
dylan s
2024-11-01 11:35:22 +0000 UTCThis wasn't a failure to keep to a schedule, this was just an attempt to give the audience what they wanted from the feedback they were perceiving. The problem is handling an audience is a lot like handling a bag of milk, interacting with any part of it causes ripples somewhere else. If you make a decision about anything ever, someone will be annoyed about it.
Woz Lee
2024-11-01 10:24:38 +0000 UTCOh that was instead of? Yeah, that was a bold choice. lol I like to save up stuff, so I can watch it in my own time, but I get the impression most people really like following the set schedule. Which honestly, shows how much people care, so I wouldn't feel too down about it. Really it just shows how much people value their Maple and Arianna time, even if they don't express it in the most positive and productive ways.
Woz Lee
2024-11-01 10:02:50 +0000 UTCExactly. There was someone in the comments expressing his disappointment because he extended his payment because he was looking forward to the next episodes, only to find they weren't there. And that comment was met with some dude calling him a dumbass. Which is really unfair.
dylan s
2024-11-01 10:02:14 +0000 UTCFor added perspective, you should remember this is paid content and a lot of people didn't know there wouldn't be episodes this week. It's completely fine for people to be annoyed or upset by this. Some people are going overboard but I really don't think you should be dismissing it as complaining when people have subscribed for something. Just my two cents

2024-11-01 07:36:09 +0000 UTCwait, what? Oh my fucking god, can't wait to watch Edward Scissorhands right now!
Damien Lupo
2024-11-01 06:14:26 +0000 UTCI don't watch GOT so I don't have a dog in this fight but I think you are doing great.

2024-11-01 05:58:39 +0000 UTCYour reactions are why we are here. So, I'm fully in the camp of watch what you want and don't watch what you don't. I was disappointed that the next two episodes were interrupted by lore, but that's totally fine. I am looking forward to next weeks reactions then. And if the lore helped, great! I feel like just sit back, in hopefully comfortable chairs and watch. I'm not kidding when I say, I wish you some comfy chairs to watch things.
Damien Lupo
2024-11-01 05:15:52 +0000 UTCNo offence, but I always found the "we're balancing this around full time jobs" to be a bit of a cop out. You're right, you do have full time jobs and responsibilities outside of this, and absolutely no one is faulting you for it. But at the end of the day, this is a schedule that you set for yourselves, isn't it? You could've made an easier schedule for yourselves that wasn't hard for you to stick to like this one seemingly is. And when people get used to a schedule and it deviates from the norm, people will get upset. Understandably so. But that's just my opinion anyway, and I truly don't mean any disrespect or offence.
dylan s
2024-11-01 05:05:37 +0000 UTCI have been enjoying the GOT reaction, i really didnt have a problem not getting a normal episode this week. My only feedback isn't about Game of Thrones but i didnt know where else to put it, can you add Black Mirror and Red Dwarf to the list of recommend shows for future polls. I feel like you both would love them.
Rob DW
2024-11-01 05:04:32 +0000 UTCThe girls gave the patreons exactly what they asked for: Got lore. Remember they film ALL DAY Saturday and time is limited. Jeez, there are some big time complainers on here
Chris Bruneau
2024-11-01 04:56:56 +0000 UTCBeing as neutral as possible. I think (I could be wrong) when you guys make a schedule and it deviates people get upset. (my guess) Ppl don't participate in all the info dumps on patreon. Only stuff they like. For example i only subbed to Blindwave for Succession and if they skipped a week i'd be bummed. But as a patreon sub you guys recently went from 1 episode a week to 2 of multiple shows. ppl forget. I'm sure your personal lives have taken a shift.

2024-11-01 04:32:29 +0000 UTCWe’re just trying to have fun with this and let our creative process flow—there’s no set rule book for how we go about it! Since we started with Season 1 of the Lore, we thought it made sense to do Season 2 right after so we wouldn’t disrupt the flow moving forward and could still enjoy the last two episodes of season 3 together. We’re balancing this with full-time jobs, so our recording time is limited, and we’re doing our best to keep up with everything. We weren’t sure when we would find time to do the second season lore so it seemed right for us in the moment to do both in one sitting. Sorry if that wasn’t made super clear when we made the decision on the fly. We appreciate the feedback and will work on keeping everyone better updated in the future! Thanks for allowing us to make this consideration for the future.
Chad Gloria
2024-11-01 04:30:14 +0000 UTCMy problem was that you said you'd post one lore episode and one normal episode, but then you only just did lore anyway? Which was disappointing. And you made it obvious in the chat that you didnt like them, so it's kind of a weird choice to continue with them. At that point you risk alienating both sides of the community, because not only do we not get any normal episodes this week (which seems like the majority of people wanted), the people that did want you to watch the lore videos are now unhappy because you didn't like it. Because no one really likes to watch reactors hate on the things they are reacting to. In my opinion, I think it would've been better if you made a post on the main feed with a poll.
dylan s
2024-11-01 04:20:07 +0000 UTCI don't know what prompted this post but I've been part of this fandom for a long time and in recent years it has become incredibly toxic. I hope you have moderators.

2024-11-01 04:16:48 +0000 UTCthe histories and lore videos r alright and can get quite repetitive, i’d recommend watching “alt shift x” instead.
