Maple with her crystal ball!

Insane take

Aaron Graham

You made some insanely on point predictions this episode... Holy

Quzga

unpopular take but i think S2 is the worst season, or maybe 2nd worst to 8. they totally haven't hit their stride here and there's so many awful awkward soft porn scenes

Tom Fehr

YUUUUUPPP !!!

Travis

Well yes but technically the main reason for his claim to the throne was because his grandmother was a Targaryen, which did give him a legitimate claim. This is very important not only for ASOIAF politics but real politics during the middle ages: none of the rulers truly wanted to stop that status quo, they just wanted to change who benefited from it. If you completely disregard the rules then that means your enemies can too. This is why precedents matter.

The History and Lore are best watched at the end of each season but do or not as you wish. The behind the scenes is completely unnecessary and detracts from the show because of how stupid Dan and Dave get.

Stephen Knueppel

You missed a very funny joke by Tyrion which subsequently caused such a cruel reaction from Cersei. Cersei: "It's all fallen on me" Tyrion: "As has Jaime repeatedly, according to Stannis Baratheon"

Andrew

Honestly though, the fact they picked up on that is kind of crazy.

Andrew

God Dan and Dave are such absolute morons

Personally, watch GOT how best you feel you will enjoy it. There were many different ways to consume the show when it came out (with the books being out already, may who watched already had an idea of what was to come). I, who didn't read the books, just watched the show, tried my best for no spoilers (difficult when your best friend doesn't believe in them & previously read the books) and at some point, listened to a podcast (RIP Binge Mode) to recap what just happened & get some insight without having to read multiple books. Some went done the full George RR Martin rabbit hole of side books of side histories - but that isn't everyone's cup of tea. I have never heard of the lore vids & don't think I have watched any. (I don't feel my GOT experience was diminished). But also remember - GOT was a global phenomenon. The show was instantly popular. So, with a weekly Sunday night release, it was an event people set their clocks to. Articles written between seasons - so if you were any fan of pop-culture - you were aware of GOT content even if you weren't looking for it. The key is to enjoy the show in whatever way you decide to consume it and the content that surrounds it. Even though you are doing it for 'work' - don't make it feel like work. The nudity did start to get a bit exploitive and reductive in season 2. I can't remember if or when it starts to be reduced. The term that was used as the show aired to describe these scenes was 'Sexposition'. Keep rocking the reactions.

Dan and Dave say some of the stupidest shit at the end of the episodes. The recaps aren't worth watching. A few of their pearls of wisdom during these recaps forever live in infamy. In terms of the lore videos, each one coincides with the season. So you watch season 1 lore video after season 1, season 2 lore video after season 2 and so on. They don't spoil future episodes.

If Joffrey and Tommen (joffrey younger brother) are bastards, then next in line for the throne is Robert's oldest brother - Stannis in this case. That's why some people say Stannis is "the one true king", he is legally, if you believe the rumors. That's why Ned sent Stannis the letter in S1, telling him this, cuz ned is 100% honor / lawful man. However Robert is only king because his side won the war and they decided he should be king lol. This all happened in fairly recent memory, which is why nobody gives a fuck that Stannis is probably the legal King. It's a good commentary on the hypocrisy of monarchy - Ned, Stannis, Robert etc all believe in divine right to rule passed through blood except for when the old king went mad and they killed him and made their own rules. Cersei is an evil moron but she's occasionally right: power is power. The "true" king is whoever has enough power, strength, intelligence, luck etc to take and hold the throne.

Kara

i know what you mean. stay strong brother, no spoilers, no tonal hints

Kara

I love the scene were Yara meets Theon--she knows he is her brother--but allows him to grope her just so she could see who he really is--its uncomfortable to watch, but you realize she is testing him. Brilliant writing! it reminds me of an old saying; "on your first dinner date, don't pay attention to how the man treats you, instead watch how he treats the waiter."

Chris Bruneau

just came to look for a comment like this 🤣 hilarious it seems to have been a habit

Justin Calhoun

Anyone who knows dumb and dumber (Benioff and Weiss) will remember their other famous "forget" line in a future inside the episode 🤡 Just know that these showrunners are very much riding on their source material and aren't too smart lol

Justin Calhoun

I know exactly what you are talking about. 😂

I watched the show 2 years ago and I didn't know there was lore videos out and if I did i wished i would've watched them between seasons. I understand you want to get the first time experience like all the original viewers but you don't have to lol. You know how in movies/shows from books there is some things the writers of the show/movie don't include in dialogue and you may think "oh we'll find out later" but you never really do and the only way you'll find out is if you read the book? The history and lore gives you that information for every season. a lot of the books is history or what the people in the chapters are thinking that is hard to fit in a show and i think hbo did a excellent job giving us that extra info. they are also entertaining and told through the perspective of different characters with said actors voice. if u dont want to do them all at least do the first one or two

Mari

I'm in agreement with pretty much everyone here. The History and Lore videos are very much better and won't spoil anything if watched at the end of the season for which they are named. You could watch the H&L for Season 1 at this point for sure.

Sir_Dalagad

I wish I could comment about a particular thing that one of them said, but it's way too early.

Histories and LORE!

Demented Avenger

Aidan Gillen (Petyr Baelish) had a pretty large role in parts of The Wire back before game of thrones. He's pretty good in that as well.

Joshua Luzania

the witty, but spiteful banter between Tyrion and Cersei is like fine wine! So enjoyable!!!

Chris Bruneau

Fun fact: Yara was originally gonna be played by Lily Allen, but for some reason Alfie was uneasy about groping his sister… can’t imagine why.

MGCR

Please watch histories and lore. They came with every season of the show and provide much needed context

ken

The History and Lore videos give so much more context and backstory that the show just can't expand too much on in a limited amount of time, and really is good supplemental information to have to help understand a lot of what is going on that isn't blatantly obvious. But certain stories will be explained from multiple characters with different viewpoints so you might find that annoying and repetitive too I guess. Maybe if an editor or someone familiar with timestamps give you a rundown of the most relevant stuff to watch it would help, idk.

MKF1004

I think I’ve only watched one full inside the episode willingly. And that was for my favorite episode of the series. I don’t think they add much more insight to the script based on the clips I’ve seen.

FW27

Honestly the histories and lore videos are so much more fulfilling than the inside the episodes and I believe they were released with each season of the show
