It's really a skill to write a relationship without any previous grounding only to make a prequel that provides that grounding so well and clever that it seems like thought out from the beginning in the first way.

At least that's the reason why I think BCS is slightly better than BB. Can't go wrong with either, but BCS is just a bit better IMO.

2024-09-25 23:31:11 +0000 UTCThat last monologue by Jonathan Banks kills me every time I see this episode. Such an absolutely amazing performance.

2024-09-18 04:26:08 +0000 UTCWell, now you know why Mike was so close to Jesse. He was dirty like Mike, but he had Marty’s moral sense of right and wrong.

2024-09-13 01:32:46 +0000 UTCThe way Mike got into the cop car was actually the way I got into my 06 Chevy malibu after I locked the keys in there while it was running, I used my shoelace lol. You’re able to slide the string between the frame and the door and shimmy it down to get the lock exactly like Mike did it lol

2024-09-11 22:19:17 +0000 UTCHe got nominated for this episode; Peter Dinklage won instead for Game of Thrones and in his acceptance speech he implied that Banks should have gotten it.

2024-09-11 12:30:18 +0000 UTCI...full on cried rewatching this when Mke said "I broke my boy". I don't have or want kids, but just that line by that actor broke me down.

2024-09-11 09:45:28 +0000 UTCOne of the best episodes! Jonathan Banks' acting gets me every time, and I'm glad you both appreciate the slow burn of BCS. The writing, acting and cinematography are next level

2024-09-11 06:39:25 +0000 UTCYeah, BCS is slightly ahead of BB in my book. But it's basically the same people that made BB and with BCS, they've just gotten even better at what they do.

2024-09-11 04:13:15 +0000 UTCMike lore like a mofo! Beautiful episode. And a heartbreaker. I've rewatched this series maybe 6-7 times, and each time, it amazes me that nobody from BCS ever won an Emmy. 53 nominations, no wins. And there's plenty more award-worthy performances to come.

2024-09-10 21:33:16 +0000 UTCIt is a fucking crime that Jonathan Banks never won an Emmy for his performance as Mike, particularly for this episode. What an absolute powerhouse performance that final scene, in particular, is. "I broke my boy" always, always, always gets me.

2024-09-10 19:26:45 +0000 UTCIt's a preference thing but I legit prefer it to Breaking Bad (which I enjoy a lot). I've rewatched BCS more than BB at this point, there's something about it... they take a long time cooking and the result is delicious.

2024-09-10 19:11:49 +0000 UTCGreat reaction! I really enjoy the first 5 eps but this is the turning point episode imo. It showcases what the show is capable of as both a Show and a Breaking Bad Prequel. It tells a great little noir story with amazing cinematography, writing, performance etc, but it also takes a character we know well and adds depth to them in a way that retroactively makes Breaking Bad even better. When Mike met Jesse, this young kid on a bad road, was he thinking of Matty? When Mike has to ditch his granddaughter in the park, is he thinking about giving Stacey another family member to mourn? People think prequels are 'boring' cuz 'you know what happens' but episodes like this show how a few scenes, a bit of lore, can radically add to the stories we know and love. There is much more of this to come!!!

2024-09-10 18:08:18 +0000 UTCOne of the best episodes of the BB+BCS universe <3

2024-09-10 16:40:50 +0000 UTCduring BB, Arianna and Maple literally said "I want Mike's back story--how do we get here??" Well girls, your wish has been granted! :)
