Better Call Saul 1x1

Comments

Nah nah nah. I think you’re saying that to be safe. But it’s definitely better.

YokoShima

Let’s go!!! As much as I love breaking bad? I think BCS is way better.

YokoShima

Yeah, Ford and Mercury are basically the same cars, different names.

Joe Blankenship

Saul drills the car model into them and we can even see after the guy got hit, it’s a Ford not a Mercury, but you’re probably not looking at it super closely when it happens. It also doesn’t have the family sticker on the windshield like Betsy has, it’s the little details.

Goddamn this show is so good. So much stuff to pick up on a second watch through that I’m havin just as much fun with this watch through as the first!

cat named toebean

Okay yall I got nice and toasty for this one lol. That 1st case, "No one died. No one got hurt." Guy casually plays tape. 😂🤣😅🤣😂

Andrew Clifton

so excited for this and mr robot <3

slippin' kimmy

my sentiments exactly! 😁

Chris Bruneau

Girls, just for clarification; this show takes place BEFORE the events of BB, but there are scenes in black and white which are AFTER the events of BB. so you always know where you are in the timeline!

Chris Bruneau

I give the edge to BCS. It’s a bit slower at first pass and may take some adjusting to the pace, but now that I’m doing rewatches, the rewatches seem much deeper and more fulfilling than the Breaking Bad rewatches. Mostly because there’s *a ton* of subtle details and character work going on underneath the surface. I feel like Better Call Saul does a better job at making you question the fundamental nature of the characters without ever making them seem out of character; and certain character switcharoos the writers first did in Breaking Bad are done more slyly and deftly here.

We made it

I also think it's better, especially having rewatched both series multiple times. BCS also displaced BB in my "top show" personal rankings, it's a top 5 show for me for sure.

Kara

Let's gooooo 🥰

Kara

Oh, I'm so excited you're jumping right into this series! The first time I started this I thought, "I don't know, Saul is a great character and all but...is it just gonna be about law and lawyers? This might be boring." It felt to me like if there was a show I loved about crazy outer space shit, and then they made a spinoff that was about the accountants who funded the space mission. I was so wrong. Very engrossing, every bit as well written and and executed as Breaking Bad. This series is great and I am looking forward to watching it with your fresh perspective.

Damien Lupo

I watched BB multiple times. I have some personal issues with this show that I'll explain later. It's a slow burn character study and not the tightly plotted show BB was. But a lot of people really like it, which is why I'm hanging on as a Patreon member....to give it another try.

Terri

So happy y'all are starting this series. As a lawyer myself, this show has a special place in my heart. When it first ran, all the attorneys in my office were obsessed with this show!--sure some of it was hokie, but a lot was actually pretty accurate. I predict you will love getting Mike's backstory, and you will love the character of Kim Wexler. Also, glad you seem to be doing 2 eps per week! small suggestion, rewatch the BB episode "better call Saul" (season 2, ep-8) --lots of cool callbacks and details from that episode wind up here, so it not a spoiler!

Chris Bruneau

I am so ready to go on this journey with you all!! This might be my favorite show ever. And while I can’t say it’s better/just as good as BB, I absolutely think it’s a worthy successor/predecessor.

FW27

It's slower paced than Breaking Bad, but I think it does a better job of developing fully fleshed out characters more quickly. The Wire is my favorite show of all-time, by a very wide margin, and Breaking Bad was always second on the list before I saw BCS. It's jumped over BB into that second spot in my tier list of the best shows ever made. (When I talk about being better at delivering fully fleshed out characters more quickly I'm thinking of, for example, Hank and Marie, who are relatively one-note early on but wind up being some of the most interesting characters in BB. This show delivers characters that feel three dimensional and layered from the jump, at least in the main cast, with Kim and Chuck and Howard and Nacho, as examples.)

Jeff K

I would say, "Just as good" but yea both are great and so different but also the same.

Andrew Clifton

You know dam well they can't stay off this lol.

Andrew Clifton

I Commented thus right before the 2nd episode uploaded lol.

Andrew Clifton

Damn. Thank you for dropping so much lately, I'm having a great time watching this show again, now with your reactions. I love Breaking Bad but Better Call Saul is slightly above it for me, and I think you'll notice how incredibly masterful the direction is in this show.

Anto

Oh, I know.

Andrew Clifton

Okay see comment on episode 2 😂🤣😅

Andrew Clifton

can't wait to see. I don't think anyone on the team has seen it before so we're all going in blind :)

Chad Gloria

Thought it was gonna be a few weeks lol

Colorado people’s press

Hey man, what

Colorado people’s press

You're right ;)

Chad Gloria

Oh hell yes. The second channel I subscribe to on Patreon that's started BCS in the last month. It's not necessarily a hot take, since I know there are plenty of people who agree with me, but I think that BCS ended up surpassing Breaking Bad, at least for me.

Jeff K

Oh man yall shoulda done then 1st 2 episodes b2b lol. Those 2 episodes really flow together. Nonetheless I can't wait to see your reaction at the end of this one. Like "OH NO 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱. Anyone but him" 😂🤣😅🤣😂😂🤣😅
