The Bear 3x10 "Finale"

Comments

Good season, although I do feel it's the weakest of the 3. For me it's Season 1 = 9.5/10. Season 2 = 10/10. Season 3 = 8.0/10.

Dude I do do that 😂 I am kind of known for my Banana Bread LOL

I feel like it was a really awesome tribute to chefs and the people who make the industry what it is. But then again I married a chef so my passion and connection is probably different!

The only thing I didn't like is in this ep where the chefs are sitting around talking. It's so clunky and wanky. I'm assuming they're actual chefs, and that's why they're so lacking in on-screen charisma, but if they were so intent on having such an overly sincere scene, they should have just used actors.

Agent Squirrels

Maple out here looking like a neighbour who brings you baked goods and gets along with everyone 😂

i talked about this vibe in the group chat. i'm a guy who needs an intriguing plot to stay "caring" about whats happening. i struggled with season 1 cause i felt the plot was thin. so far season 2 has been my favorite cause i thought it was structurally satisfying (everyone was sent on solo missions to level up to then come back and open together with their newfound powers.) which was my window to enjoy all the small beautiful character moments. but in season 3 it feels like the plot is even more thin and they expect u to be on board just watching the characters have beautiful character moments. that will work for a lot of people but it will be tough for others and thats why i think this season is so polarized.

I really enjoyed this season as well. The overall plot did not move much, but there was some incredible character work and the charting of Carmen's journey from when he started out to where he is now was masterful.

Silver Hawkins

This makes sense they are all so natural in their language on camera!

Oh, you're dead on about this basically being part one of a two-part season. They filmed 18 episodes all together, and then split them up into two seasons. So it really is all one story for S3 and S4.

The funny thing about having Thomas Keller in the same episode in which Carmy finally confronts asshole Chef David is that Joel McHale said in an interview a couple months ago that David is based primarily on Keller.

Great reaction! but I have really mixed feelings about this season. Feels like "Season 3: Part One". S1 and S2 were comparatively dialled in and almost standalone, S1 especially. Maybe my expectations were just too high, after S1 I assumed S2 wouldnt be as good but it was even better, so I went into S3 mega-hyped and found it a bit meandering and self-indulgent. My fav eps were 3x1, 3x6 (tina) and 3x8 (natalia/donna), but there's no episode as good as 'Forks' or 'Fishes' imo. I think mostly I wish the 'state of the board' changed a bit more... In S1, they go from running an indebted, grief-stricken sandwich shop to building a restaurant. In S2 they build the restaurnt and open it. In S3 they go from running the restaurant badly to running the restaurant badly. There's still loads of great stuff in it but I hope they bring back some of that pace + direction for S4.

Nearly all the chefs you see in this episode are actual chefs playing themselves, starting with Thomas Keller as the Executive Chef who taught Carmy how to truss a chicken. Keller is the owner and executive chef of The French Laundry (the real one) in Napa and Per Se in NYC... both Michelin three star restaurants. There are only 13 Michelin three star restaurants in the U.S., and Keller owns two of them (and nobody else does). Anyway, all of the chefs at the table besides Carmy, Syd, and Luca were actual all-star chefs in the culinary world who have worked at and opened some of the best restaurants in the country.
