People really do be pretending they do not see when it comes to Walt. He is a well written, compelling character but in no way is he someone that you can truly defend if you’re using any logical bone in your body. To me the beauty of the show is how it displays that we as humans draw our own lines of morality. Usually they are aligned with society. But sometimes extenuating circumstances will erase those lines and give us motivation to draw new ones. And that can also reveal some deeper character flaws or strengths that have always been there. We see that with everyone in the show as they are put through different things. Walt is on the far end of that spectrum for sure.

2023-12-11 16:37:53 +0000 UTCI have noticed that a lot of people really like Walt because he is a good actor. They dont separate how good he acts from how bad of a person his character is. I think thats why so many people defend his actions in the show. Make no mistakes he is a bad guy, along side Jessie, Mike, Saul, and Gus. The rest of the characters are grey, and the only good character is Holly lol.

Also for the Gray Matter stuff - the thing Walt doesn't seem to be able to (nor most of his fans I think) is hold himself accountable. It was his decision to leave Gray Matter, and it was his decision to take the buy out (I don't know if the exact sum has been mentioned yet, so I won't get further into it). Gretchen and Elliot didn't rob him. He chose to leave. Also, Grey Matter was probably at this time nothing more than a start up. Most of them fail. Grey Matter didn't and Walt was only there at the beginning. Walt is a brilliant guy, he could've started his own company, or could've done a ton of other things. But he didn't. And that's on him

I would be mad too if I was that smart and working as a high school teacher with minimal wage while my colleagues are getting rich off my ideas. Gretchen and Elliot feel guilty. A breakup doesn't justify it
